I wasn't even alive in the 80s and I feel nostalgic when listening to 80s music, playing 80s games, and even watching the movies and shows from the 80s.

Anyone else like this? Or am I just weird?

That's normal in a lot of cases. My dad was born in the 1950s but he was interesting in learning about World War II and the Great Depression. Being born in the 80s myself, I even listen to a few songs from the 1970s from time to time.

Usually what you grow up on you stick with it in your memories, but sometimes stuff that is older than you can make you nostalgic.

I'm born in 1980 but I went through a similar thing when I was 16-18 where I loved the 1960s - I loved the music, the fashion and memorobilia. So to answer your question, yes, you are weird.

I only get nostalgic over things I have memories from..
I was born in 1970 so My first real memories stem back to 76..

When I hear 50's and 60' music I just enjoy it.
When I listen to 70's and 80's music (especially 80's) I have more of a tenancy to become nostalgic.

It's completely normal. It's whatever pop culture you grew up with. I get nostalgic listening to oldies because that's all my parents listened to.

That's definitely normal. I was only around in the '80s for about a month and a lot of times I get nostalgic for the '80s even though I don't remember a darn thing about that decade. The '80s had some of the greatest music, TV shows, and movies.

That sums up what I think also. I love the 90s, but there is a lot of stuff from the 80s that I enjoy also, excluding the hair bands.

It depends on what you grew up with. As you get older and look back on the things you remember from your childhood; that's what I would call nostalgia.

I was born in 1980 and because I was alive so close to the 70's, I grew up with both 70's and 80's stuff. The 70's were courtesy of my parents. I used to listen to the Carpenters because that was their favorite group; a group that was mainly in the 70's. When I listen to Carpenters music, I get nostalgia even though I wasn't born in the 70's. But I still grew up with the music and it still reminds me of my childhood to this day.

So yes, it's pretty normal to have nostalgia about things during a decade that you were not alive in.

I have a nostaglic feeling for the Hanna Barbera cartoons of the 1960s and 1970s and I didn't live through the 1960s or most of the 1970s.

I often wish I can go back to different eras and see what people liked and compare that stuff to today. I know it sounds corny but it would be pretty nice.

I have warm-cuddly feeling towards the '70s even tho i don't have '70s blood in me. I think it has something to do with playing with my brother's toys when i was little and all his toys were from the '70s. I guess i have a pull towards it. Plus i love a lot of '70s music.

It's a bit odd with me... I remember a year, say, 1995, but I want to go back to it as the age I am now so I can appreciate the culture fully and in different ways than I did when I was 2 years old...

I've always had had a fascination with all things 60s, 70s, and 80s. The 90s were okay and this decade has been complete ass.

Keep in mind I was born in the first half of the 80s.

Probably because when you were young, people still listened to 80's music and played 80's games quite often.

I was born in 1985 and I've had an infatuation with the 80s since at least 1997 or 1998.

haha I thought I was the only one (even though technically I was alive in the later part of the 80's), anything 80's music, movies, fashion I feel nostalgic...I really think its because of my 2 siblings, its kinda like growing up bilingual, I understand the culture of the 80's, while most people around my age think its weird or something LOL.

This happens to me too, i was born in 1999 and i grew in the 2000's (maybe i am the youngest here...), now that i have 17 years, i started my maturity and maybe this have triggered the strange nostalgia i have experienced too, but i don't know exactly how it was triggered, it just got somehow.

I started to love and prefer older things when i was 15 years old, i started to love 80's music and tv shows, not only the media from the 80's, but anything that came before the 2000's or 2010's, not only media, but machines, vehicles, fashion, well, everything.

But the strangest part came when i started experiencing the nostalgia sensations like how you guys were too, i turned 17 right this year, i started feeling nostalgic when i was seeing 80's shows, musics, scenes or movies (especially with Footloose), i was seeing the scenes from the movies and i was thinking with myself "man, i really wanted so bad to be born in the late 60's, so i could be a kid in the 70's and a teen in the 80's, or maybe a kid during the 80's, i don't know man, it was so much better, well, of course there will be people with different opinions about which time is better, the 70's, 80's, 90's or the 00's, 10's, and i respect that, it's just that i don't like modern stuff like smartphones and social media, as there are some things that i like from today, like the games, but i think that this is the only thing i could save from the today's, music isn't the best too, the mainstream media just sucks (again, this is my opinion and there is no problem if you disagree with me, you have your freedom). Some of you will think i am crazy, but if you give me the chance to study through googling what i need and the chance to pick up the encyclopedia books (Britannica, McGraw-Hill's, Columbia, Collier's, i don't care which one it would be) and search through them what i want and need, i would pick one of the Encyclopedia books, don't kill me please lol.

But what is truly killing me is when i hear I'm on Fire by Bruce Springsteen (Link), i feel an unknown feeling, like that it was a music that i used to listen when i was young, but that's the problem, i've never heard about this music by Bruce Springsteen, i always knew some famous musics from him, like Born to Run, Born in the U.S.A, Dancing in the Dark, between others, i fell in love with this music since then, i don't know exactly what is the musical instrument in the music's background, i don't know that much about instruments, but i think it could be some kind of guitar, perhabs with some synth effect, some kind of organ, or some kind of synthetizer from the 80's, i don't know man, it isn't the voice of Bruce that kills me, it is the music's background song, it's very easy for me to fall with these kind of 80's song (which still today i don't know that it is), but the one from this music just give me the real (perhabs?) sensation of nostalgia, and i wasn't even around during the 80's or 90's, maybe this sensation that i am feeling is the same sensation that the people that lived in the 80's gets? I don't know... I just came here and quickly registered in this forum to comment my experience wit that too.

Just to finish my commentary, another music that i fall with nostalgia is Souvenir by OMD (Link), i usually get the nostalgia feeling while remembering the early 2000's games that i played when i was a kid together with this music, no, it wasn't plain silly games, they were games that doesn't exist anymore and were exclusive from the DirecTV, specially games like Johnny Megatone and Carrot Mania, man, when i search for these games in the internet i get nothing but just silly online games! I get angry with that, if don't know about these games, or maybe you just played that when you was younger and don't remember, search in the google images "Carrot Mania" or "Johnny Megatone", these two are very similiar with Lemmings, another game that i used to play.

The last thing i want to comment, is that i get nostalgic when i remember Windows 95 or 98, or 2000 computers, i get madly nostalgic too, but it makes sense, since that in the early 2000's most of us was with a windows 2000, 98 or 95 in our homes, so, i don't remember too much, i was very young (4 or 5 years), so what i did was to see my brother who was a 90's kid playing with my uncle Super Nintendo games, like Super Mario World or Donkey Kong.

I don't know, but these are very good feelings we get, they make us older but younger at the same time, they bring sadness but a strange sensation that i would describe as close to happiness too.

That's all, thanks for the attention, bye. Sorry if i have said something wrong, i'm from Brazil.
