Back in the early 80's there was chewing gum that came in the shape of a record and was packaged to look like popular albums of the era (Rolling Stones,Led Zeppelin etc). I have done a few google searches and cant find a damn thing about them. Does anyone remember this gum or am I just losing it?

    I don't remember those.

I was thinking of Bubble Tape before I read your post.

We didn't get a lot of candy back then, so I don't remember it at all.

The funny thing is, was the gum that came with them wasnt all that good, so I cant remember how many I actually ate and how many became edible frisbees. I think we bought them just to collect the cool album covers. But like you said its the nostalgia. Thats what keeps us coming back here and doing google searches til 3 in the morning.

Yes. They were called ''Chu-Bops'' Bubble Gum Records.

    Created in 1981

    Measured 3x3"

    Came in mini record sleeves

A sample of some of the artists: Blondie, The Beatles, Foghat, Judas Priest, Kiss

I can't believe they don't have a Wikipedia entry yet.

Yeah, I remember them. I couldn't remember the name until someone posted Chu-Bops! They didn't seem to stay around long. I remember buying some of them as a kid though.

NIICCCE, Thanks alot Booger. Looks like you can still get them on ebay. The gum probably tastes the same today as it did in 1981

No problem. I remember the gum tasting kinda chalky like the gum you'd get in a pack of baseball cards. I bet if you ate the gum today it would probably crumble in your mouth due to the age of it.

I agree. I liked getting Pac Man cards but after a while I just ended up throwing the gum away and going for the scratch-ff games.

I remember those! I had the Blondie and (if I'm not mistaken) The Cars albums. The gum really wasn't any worse than the ones you'd find in set packs of baseball cards (in fact, it was better!).
