This ad can't be from 1980. Nintendo Power was first published in 1988. The motifs in the ad are clearly from the 90's.

That's just the decade. Ever since RetroJunk reset, the commercials on the site lost their actual year.

I guess AVGN did a great job on the history of Nintendo Power. James had many of these Nintendo Power magazines in his collection.

Mario must have been on steroids at the time this ad was made. He probably went on a no pasta diet and ate a healthy portion of Nintendo powers.

Wow. That has to be the CRAZIEST commercial I've ever seen from the 80s. I love the part where the TV explodes, which explodes the house, which explodes the entire planet. LOL!

I still have a HUGE collection of Nintendo Power Magazines upstairs in my bedroom and still in MINT CONDITION! Sometimes when I'm bored or if I can't sleep at night, I'll take a couple out and read.
Quote O' Matic
  • Derrick: Is everything okay?
  • Pee-Wee Herman and Miss Yvonne: Mm-Hmmm.
  • Derrick: Well, Fortunately. There was not a fire, Just a bunch of smoke. Here is how it started (Shows Pee-Wee Herman and Miss Yvonne the burned bread)
  • Miss Yvonne: Oh no, My bread.
  • Derrick: Sorry, I do love homemade bread.
  • Pee-Wee Herman: Gee, Firefighter Derrick. How could this have happen?
  • Derrick: Well, Anything will burn like that at 700 degrees.
  • Miss Yvonne: 700 degrees?!? But I set up the oven in 350 degrees. Didn't I, Pee-Wee.
  • Pee-Wee Herman: Yeah, Who could have done it?
  • Derrick: Well, somebody must had turned it way up to 700 degrees.
