swayner_4-20 Posted 13 years 1 month ago
Yes, this commercial summed it up
BenJabotuya Posted 13 years 6 months ago
The Genesis was the only top selling Sega System. The other failures were the Master System, the 32X, the Sega CD, The Game Gear, the Saturn and the Dreamcast.

The Saturn was a hit in Japan. The Master System was a hit in Europe and Brazil. The Genesis was called the MegaDrive outside North America.

Um...Alex Kidd sucked.
renandstimpydied Posted 13 years 9 months ago
Hey, let's all praise Alex Kidd! The only reason Sonic The Hedgehog was made is because Sega wanted a game that could sell more than a million copies and they wanted to replace Alex Kidd as their mascot.

True Eyanyo: Nintendo took several years to release the SNES but, boy was it worth it! I still love playing Super Mario World!
pearljamownzyou Posted 13 years 10 months ago
I had an NES, but I ended up getting a Sega instead of a SNES. Although, I did want one.
EYanyo Posted 14 years 9 days ago
Yeah, the Genesis did come out before the SNES... by several years. That's what they're advertising: Genesis was the only 16-bit console at the time and Nintendians were stuck with their 8-bit NES. That's why you can't do that on Nintendo. Duh.
GamerPro Posted 14 years 28 days ago
Genesis sucks and Nintendon't
SharonTheJedi Posted 14 years 3 months ago
I remember wanting Michael Jackson's Moonwalk so baaaadd!! It almost made me want to switch to Sega but I stuck by my Nintendo consoles..
MrTorresSaysHello Posted 14 years 9 months ago
MJ had an intimate relationship with sega...for those of you who dont know he made most of the songs for Sonic 3
Demache Posted 14 years 9 months ago
Michael Jackson Moonwalk! That was really a game? Random micheal jackson pic.
ChowTimer Posted 14 years 10 months ago
No you can't do that on Nintendo because Nintendo does it MUCH better.
Largo Posted 15 years 2 months ago
Man, game developers just got so competetive at that time. I mean, sure bragging is alright, but an actuall attack! Its just cool to watch them brag over those graphics. Man, times fly.
k1scholar Posted 15 years 2 months ago
That was the most blatant attack on a competitor I have ever seen. Sega had much balls for that...
Units1019 Posted 15 years 3 months ago
Haha, man I barely remember this. I didn't get a Genesis til Sonic 2, and although I was a Nintendo fanboy as some would like to call it, Sega was no slouch by any means. Genesis was excellent.
SummertmeBrews Posted 15 years 3 months ago
that was a rad commercial back in the day, cant beat a good jingle to lure you in.
KI_Simpson Posted 15 years 4 months ago
Genesis was a good system later (the games in this ad are far from great), but SNES is what Genesisn't.
musicradio77 Posted 15 years 5 months ago
That brings back memories. That Sega Genesis commercial has become an all-time classic. That jingle was silly saying "You can't do this on Nintendo". Nintendo's NES was a chief competitor to Sega Genesis. I always love the motto at the end saying "Genesis Does What Nintendon't!" I used to have the Sega Genesis system, but I don't have it anymore. As I said before, that commercial was definitely a classic.
pokinsmot Posted 15 years 7 months ago
meh, ive always prefered seag anything over nintendo...
Phantasmagoria_3D Posted 15 years 7 months ago
This commercial IS good eye candy for the deceased Sega Genesis, though Nintendo has always been better in my personal opinion!
