Gaming Classics #3: Star Fox 64

A review on one of my favorite video games of all time

"Do a barrel roll." If you haven't already guessed, my next review is a fantastic shoot em up called "Star Fox 64". This is one of my favorite games of all time and for very good reasons which I'll explain later on.

The Story:The Lylat System is being invaded by the evil scientist Andross as revenge for being banished from his home planet of Corneria This gives the Star Fox team no choice but to respond.

The Controls: The controls are pretty simple:
A=Shoot (Hold A to charge your laser.)
B=Bomb (If you lock on to an enemy, you can have the bomb act like a homing missile.)
C buttons=Boost,Brake & other moves
Z/R=Barrel Roll

The Remake: In case you were wondering, yes there is a remake of Star Fox 64 called Star Fox 64 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. When I first played through it, I didn't really know what to think of it but then I thought that it wasn't that bad. In fact it's just as good as the original 1997 game.

My Memories: Now I remember a ton from Star Fox 64. Not just the quotes but the amazing level design. From the reflection in the water on Coneria to the sudden reference to the movie "Independence Day" on Katina. Star Fox 64 is a game that is just as good when I first played it way back in 1998. I just wish that the multi-player was slightly better.

The Final Verdict: Star Fox 64 is a game that I love even to this very day. But speaking from a critical point of view, I can easily say this game won't be getting a perfect score.

So the verdict is:
9/10
