I've played a lot of game consoles but nothing can compare to the beauty of Sony's PlayStation. The games themselves were pretty amazing for the time. So for this article, I thought I'd take you on a stroll down memory lane when the PS1 was amazing.



Let's begin with one of the most popular games that many gamers came to love: Crash Bandicoot.

The story for the first Crash Bandicoot goes something like this: Dr. Neo Cortex along with his assistant Dr. N.Brio turn animals living on a trio of islands southeast of Australia into beasts with superhuman strength. A bandicoot named Crash manages to escape the mad scientists but his girlfriend Tawna doesn't actually make it up in time so she can be with Crash. So it's up to Crash to save Tawna and foil the plans of Dr. Cortex.
I can easily say that Crash Bandicoot is an outstanding game because of the presentation and the amazing soundtrack. Even though I never played this game, I still think that It's just plain amazing.



The next game I'm going to talk about is a series of games that feature really old Namco games. Of course I'm talking about Namco Museum.

There really is no story here. The main thing to note about the Namco Museum series is that if you select museum from the main menu, you'll be transported to a museum where the games are exhibited. Some of which include: Pac-Man, Pole Position, Dig Dug, Mappy, Pac-Land, Galaga, Galaxian & Bosconian. All of which are direct arcade ports that look amazing. I was exposed to this series when I went to a friend's house one day to play video games. When he asked me what I wanted to play I looked through and his games and said what is Namco Museum. So my friend basically fired up his PS2 and showed me first hand and I was amazed by it.
Now after I saw Namco Museum, I only thought that there was only one volume. Man was I wrong. I never actually found out about the other 4 volumes until 2008. Namco Museum is still a good series on the PS1 and is a must if you are a fan of the old Namco arcade games like I am.


This next game that I'm going to talk about basically sums up my childhood completely and that game is: Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command. Since I love Toy Story, this game was a no brainer

This is basically a 3D platformer where you play as Buzz Lightyear. I really don't know that much about Buzz Lightyear of Star Command because I only made it past the first level of the game.

Even if Disney based games on the PS1 were not all that good,
but they were some good ones like Toy Story Racer & Monsters Inc.: Scream Team.

As far as Toy Story Racer goes, it is a solid game but it really can't compare to Crash Team Racing.

I remember playing a demo of Monsters Inc.: Scream Team and loving it and I eventually got it in my collection about 11 years later.

Another fun game that I remember playing a demo of was Spider-Man

There was a story but I can't remember it because it's been ages since I played it. But what I do know is that Spider-Man came out in 2000. It was also lucky enough to get a sequel called Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro which was released in 2001.

Since I talked about the PS1 games that I truly remember, I thought I'd talk about games I didn't find out about until recently and what better game to start with than Looney Tunes Racing.

The general story is that there is none. This is just like Mario Kart but with a few minor modifications. I can't tell you more about Looney Tunes Racing as it's not one of the more popular racing games on the PS1.


Pac-Man World is another game I never found out about until recently.

The general plot is that it's Pac-Man 20th birthday but all his friends & family are kidnapped so it's up to Pac-Man to save his them from Toc-Man. When it was released, It was released with the purpose to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pac-Man and it was so sucessful that it inspired two sequels and a spin off racing game called Pac-Man World Rally.


So I covered some of the cool games on the original PlayStation. But this article isn't over yet because the last picture I have on this article is a photo of my current PS1 collection.
