I've always been into sc-fi films growing up, I've put together films that I love and films that I've recently watched and really liked that I missed as a kid.I feel that the 80sreally captured the way outer space movies should really be like with great imagination and great story telling. Its a real shame that they don't make films like this today even if the special effects want that great but that's the reason why I like them and find the 80's great years in sc-fi epics.

I really enjoyed this film as a kid and recently watched it and to my disappointment this has to be the worse film I've seen in my life so its the first movie to put on the list.I think its a classic as robots battle each other which I still find cool but this film had quite bad action scenes which let it down.
It is post-World War III. War is outlawed. In its place, are matches between large Robots called Robot Jox. These matches take place between two large superpowers over disputed territories. The main character Achilles is a pilot in one of the large Robots. The plot revolves around him and a match for the state of Alaska.

I did enjoy this film but I also found it boring and to nice.I found the kid was extremely annoying but I managed to see the film through.
After a mystifying disappearance aboard a spectacular, futuristic spacecraft, David Freeman returns to earth possessing vast, undiscovered knowledge about the farthest reaches of the universe. With these sudden navigational powers, David is able to take the fantastic flying machine anywhere he desires.

I love the opening scenes with space craft fighting each other and some of the creatures I found really cool on the alien planet but most of the film was fairly boring.Over all it wasn't bad and any one should take a look at it,
A soldier from Earth crash-lands on an alien world after sustaining battle damage. Eventually he encounters another survivor, but from the enemy species he was fighting; they band together to survive on this hostile world. In the end the human finds himself caring for his enemy in a completely unexpected way.

This has to be the most camp film in history but its aclassic and has some really cool monsters and characters I thought Ming was a really good villain and flash was kick ass hero.
In this update of the 1930's comic strip, Flash is a football hero who is skyjacked aboard Dr. Zarkov's rocketship along with beautiful Dale Arden. The threesome are drawn into the influence of the planet Mongo, controlled by Ming the Merciless. Ming has been testing the Earth with unnatural disasters, and deeming it a threat to his rule, he plans to destroy it. He also intends to take Dale as his concubine. Flash must avoid the amorous attentions of Ming's daughter and unite the warring kingdoms of Mongo to rescue Dale and save our world.

I liked this film as kid and watched it again and I think that its fairly dated but has some good action scenes and visually it still stands out, maybe it was to light as a film and needed to be more darker and gorier.
From the sky will come the Black Fortress. From the Fortress will come the Slayers to devour the planet of Krull. Then shall a girl of ancient name become queen...she shall choose a king...and together they shall rule the planet. And their son shall rule the galaxy.

I think this films quite underrated, this is a sort of film that I really used to like as a kid and gave me great imagination and I wanted go out into space myself and kick some alien butt.
Alex Rogan lives in a trailer court where his mother is manager and everyone is like a big extended family. He beats the Starfighter Video Game to the applause of everyone in the court and later that day finds he has been turned down for a student loan for college. Depressed, he meets Centauri, who introduces himself as a person from the company that made the Game, before Alex really knows what is going on he is on the ride of his life in a "car" flying thru space. Chosen to take the skills he showed on the video game into real combat to protect the galaxy from an invasion. Alex gets as far as the Starfighter base before he really realized that he was conscripted and requests to be taken back home. When he gets back home, he finds a Zan-Do-Zan (Alien Bounty Hunter) is stalking him. Unable to go home and live, Alex returns to the Starfighter base to find all the pilots have been killed and he is the galaxy's only chance to be saved from invasion. To defeat the invaders, who are paying the Bounty on him, He must be victorious.

This film is great its so funny and has some really awful monsters in it but I still love it.Watch out for the baby people.
Three women makes an emergency landing on a planet plagued with a fatal disease, but are captured by dictator Overdog. Adventurer Wolff goes there to rescue them and meets Niki, the only earthling left from a medical expedition. Combining their talents, they try to rescue the women.

I really enjoyed this film,I did like the first film but I felt it was a little bit bland than this film that had every thing monsters and great fight scenes. One of the best star war films to be made which they should of left alone after.
Darth Vader and the Empire are building a new, indestructible Death Star. Meanwhile, Han Solo has been imprisoned, and Luke Skywalker has sent R2D2 and C3PO to try and free him. Princess Leia - disguised as a bounty hunter - and Chewbacca go along as well. The final battle takes place on the moon of Endor, with its natural inhabitants, the Ewoks, lending a hand to the rebels. Will Darth Vader and the dark side overcome the rebels and take over the universe ?

This film is fantastic which,it always made me wonna build my own spaceship as kid, its such amazing film that every kid should get the chance to watch.
Ben Crandall, an alien-obsessed kid, dreams one night of a circuit board. Drawing out the circuit, he and his friends Wolfgang and Darren set it up, and discover they have been given the basis for a starship. Setting off in the ThunderRoad, as they name their ship, they find the aliens Ben hopes they would find... but are they what they seem?

I don't think this film was a successes when released but it has to be the brilliant visual film ever to be put onto screen. Its quite a strange film with some crazy characters but its still brilliant.
In the far future, a duke and his family are sent by the Emperor to a sand world from which comes a spice that is essential for interstellar travel. The move is designed to destroy the duke and his family, but his son escapes and seeks revenge as he uses the world's ecology as one of his weapons.

The darkest out of the lot and one of my favs. The battles scene at the beginning was fantastic, the fight scence were great. The film was so epic and as a kid I must admit I got a wee bit scared especial when Luke fights Darth at the end.
Darth Vader is helping the Empire crush the rebellion determined to end the Empire's domination of the universe. The rebels are based on Hoth, and when troops arrive to wipe them out, Han Solo and Princess Leia flee to Cloud City. Luke Skywalker, in a bid to strengthen his knowledge of the force, finds Yoda, one of the finest Jedis ever. Will they be able to get back together and halt the Empires progress ?

"Your suppose to protect us where your men"-"My men-my men are shit"
Sean Connery totally kicks ass in this film sorting out scumbags and ultimately has to deal with the reinforment by himself.
Marshal W.T. O'Niel is assigned to a mining colony on Io, one of Jupiter's moons. During his tenure miners are dying - usually violently. When the marshal investigates he discovers the one thing all the deaths have in common is a lethal amphetamine-type drug, which allows the miners to work continuously for days at a time until they become "burned out" and expire. O'Niel follows the trail of the dealers, which leads to the man overseeing the colony. Now O'Niel must watch his back at every turn, as those who seek to protect their income begin targeting him...

"train him in the games, let him hope for a while then blow him away"
This was an important film in special effects. At the time it had never been done before with the style they used on it and was a quite successful at the time and grew more popular over years hugely. Its one of my all time favourite growing up ,I think its Jeff Bridges best film he's done people say that he's like that in real life which is quite funny. The best moment in the film for me has to be the life cycles they were amazing a pity they never made them games in the arcades or did they.
Computer Classic, one of the first computer generated movies. A hacker is split into molecules and is transported into a computer. In this computer a mean program called Master Control behaves like a dictator. The hacker, who programmed a number of features of the environment he got into, teams up with a book keeping program and his girl-friend and together they try to replace Master Control with Tron. Tron is an honest safety system.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, attack ships off shoulder of orian"
Well what can I say about this film its a classic and one the greatest sc-fi films ever to be made with dark futurist landscapes and visually out of this world, a not to miss film.
In a cyberpunk vision of the future, man has developed the technology to create replicants, human clones used to serve in the colonies outside Earth but with fixed lifespans. In Los Angeles, 2019, Deckard is a Blade Runner, a cop who specialises in terminating replicants. Originally in retirement, he is forced to re-enter the force when five replicants escape from an offworld colony to Earth.
