Citry's "Wonder Years" in TV

Hello, I am Citry. I'm 23 years old, going on 24 to talk about my wonder years in TV.
March 12, 2007
Released in 1979, though I wasn't born that year. Ever since I was about 3 or 4 (circa 1987),
my childhood on Nick has begun. I used to watch shows such as Ren and Stimpy, Angry Beavers,
Rugrats (not the crap with Dil and Kimi in it), Doug, Are you Afraid of the Dark, My Brother
and Me, Rocko, Ahh! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold and of course, there's
YCDTOTV, Clarissa and many, many others.

There were also good Nick Jr. shows like Little Koala, Noozles, Grimm's Fairy Tales,
Eureka's Castle, etc. those were pretty good IMHO. Not like the crappy Nick Jr. shows today like Wow!
Wow! Wubbzy, Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go, Blue's Clues, Wonder Pets and the Backyardigans,
those shows are just trash.

Ever since 1998, as some others have said; Nick did mess up, by creating a new nicktoon
called CatDog. WTF? Was Nick out of their minds or were they smoking dope when they aired
that stupid show. It wasn't long before I gave up on Nick in late 2003/early 2004 before it got
even worse with poop shows like Zoey 101, Catscratch, The X's, All Grown Up, El Tigre, Drake
and Josh, Naked Brothers Band and many other garbage I can't stand.

Released in 1977, there was the USA Network, where they used to show a programming block called
the Cartoon Express. They showed some Hanna-Barbera stuff like Pac Man, Smurfs, Scooby,
etc. And others that were pretty good like Ninja Turtles, Denver, Dinosaucers, Itsy Bitsy Spider,
Problem Child (based on the movie franchise), and if I'm not mistaken; wasn't He-Man on

Then in 1997, they replaced the Cartoon Express with the Action Extreme team with shows
like Mighty Max, Street Sharks, Sonic the Hedgehog (Adventures of Sonic were in the promos,
they actually show the SatAM version) and Sailor Moon. Sadly, the Cartoons ended for USA in

After USA's Cartoon Express departed, I just stopped watching USA. My Mom watches it
though, because she watches Monk on there.

Whoa, I'm surprised no one was nostalgic about the Sci-Fi Channel as I am.
Released in 1992, Sci-Fi Channel had programming block I had a block
called Saturday Anime, where they aired adult oriented anime.

This was the network that got me hooked on anime. Let's see here... I started watching Sci-Fi Channel in
late-August 1996, shortly after my adolesence began, and there was a Tenchi Muyo! movie called Tenchi
Muyo in Love!. Then of course, I watched Gall Force: Eternal Story for about an hour the next night, because
my Mom wouldn't let me watch that type of stuff. Although, Eternal Story had brief nudity in it. There were also
good shows like Monsters, Farscape, Ewoks, Tales from the Crypt and MST3K.

During the 1996-1997 year, I have watched Ewoks, and I used to try to wake up and watch them before
going to my brother's house. I even remember watching the final episode of the first season called Asha.

A year after seeing Tenchi Muyo in Love!, I used to watch Iria: Zeriam the Animation; that one was great back
then. Three months after watching Iria, I got to watching Saturday Anime every morning when I wake up and
watch titles like: Dominion Tank Police, Project A-ko, Project A-ko vs. Gray Side and Blue Side, Venus Wars,
Akira and many others.
Sadly, Saturday Anime ended its run in 1999-2000; but there was still Tales from the Crypt and
MST3K. After MST3K ended its 7-year run on January 31, 2004; I just stopped watching Sci-Fi
and then watched Tripping the Rift, which was another South Park copycat, and hated it afterwords.
I gave up watching the Sci-Fi Channel in 2005.

Before I saw Sci-Fi there was Cartoon Network, which was released a week after
Sci-Fi. I first saw CN in late-1994, when they ran Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, and
many others, therefore taking a chunk of USA's Cartoon Express programs, especially
Scooby Doo.

There were good shows on there like Thundarr, Dynomutt, G-Force, Capitol Critters, Road Rovers,
SWAT Kats, 2 Stupid Dogs and many others. Plus, there's Toonami; a programming block I've
enjoyed throughout 1998-2002.

They used to show great programs on Toonami, such as Voltron (which is now
on Adult Swim), Tenchi Muyo!, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, Thunder Cats, Silver
Hawks, Outlaw Star and many others. ^^ Then Toonami turns to crap after 2004,
when they added Miguzi, which I didn't pretty much interested in. Alhough every so
often I watch Naruto once in a while on Toonami.

Then the Cartoon-Cartoons came in 1996, beginning with Dexter's Lab, which was pretty
dang good. Then the following year there were Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken, after
that, came the Powerpuff Girls. These shows from 1996-2002 were good IMHO, until the
end of 2002, where it got okay. It got even worse when they aired live action! For instance,
they aired a movie called "Re-Animated," which was nothing but horse poop.

Speaking of poop, ever since Cartoon Cartoon Fridays changed in 2004, it just got
so lame. Lame-o shows like Squirrel Boy, Camp Lazlo, My Gym Partner’s a Monkey,
Class of 3000 and many others that smell like horse poop! Especially the
ones that are coming in the future. Now, I don’t care if I watch Ben 10, Teen
Titans, Juniper Lee, Foster’s and Billy and Mandy, because those shows are
very decent.

Then they added a programming block in 2001 called Adult Swim, which
is all I watch on CN now.

As for Adult Swim, I’ve watched it since the week it premiered in 2001.
They show such great anime programs like Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist,
FLCL, Bleach, Trigun, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and others.

Besides, Bleach is my favorite next to Love Hina and Scrapped
Princess. Now, for the comedy… I like Aqua Teen (seasons 1-5),
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Brak Show, Futurama (will eventually be
on Comedy Central n January 2008), Family Guy, Robot Chicken (some
eps) and that's probably it.

Heck, I wouldn’t want to Adult Swim’s other crap like Assy McGee,
Frisky Dingo, Metalocalypse, Moral Orel, Stroker and Hoop and the
Venture Brothers, Tim and Eric's Show, Saul of the Mole Men and
others. It just became crap afterwords.

That's about all I can talk about. L8er! :)
