Where to start. As a kid I loved a lot of the video game based shows like Super Mario Bros Super Show (I have it on DVD), Sonic The Hedgehog (also have it on DVD), and Mega Man. I loved TMNT classic, and watched a bit of the new series, thought it was pretty good for awhile into it. I used to watch Power Rangers like it was crack, and always gave the other Americanized Tokusatsu and such live action heroes a try. Masked Rider, I thought was a flop, but I liked the fight scenes so I'd watch that. I felt the same about VR Troopers and Beetle Borgs. I loved Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, and would really like to find it's Japanese counterpart, Gridman. Those shows really paved the way for me to find their Japanese counterparts, and now I'm a huge fan of the current (3rd) generation of Kamen Rider.
Nowadays it feels like the return to a lot of my favorite shows as a kid is a major disappointment. I can't stand Sonic X or Mega Man NT Warrior at all. TMNT was good for awhile, I admit, but it got really dumb after awhile. Especially when they went to the future.
My handle comes from my days as a radio DJ for what was my college. I used to DJ a show called at first Made In Japan, then VG Japan when I added video game music to my repertoire. I miss DJing a lot, and doing it online over SHOUTcast isn't as fun. But as they say, ce la vis.
I've been coming to the site for years but only recently decided to make an account. I hope to be more active in the community here as time goes on. Looking forward to it. |
