Fawlty Towers Season 1 Episode 5
Episode Title: Gourmet Night
Episode Plot
Basil is delighted when VIPs accept an invitation to a 'gourmet night (no riff-raff)' at Fawlty Towers and creates a menu for his new Greek chef Kurt to prepare. Meanwhile, Basil has trouble greeting the guests: he addresses Mrs. Hall as 'Mrs. Small' and struggles to introduce Colonel Hall (who has a distinctive twitch) to Lionel Twitchen. Starters go horribly wrong and Basil finds out that Kurt (who has a baffling passion for Manuel) is severely drunk. Basil has to change the menu and asks local chef Andre to prepare duck. On the menu, there is: Duck with Cherry, Duck with Orange, and Duck Suprise (Duck without orange or cherry). They choose and Basil races to Andre's. He returns only to have the duck knocked on the floor, trod on by Manuel and thrown up on by Kurt. He goes a second time, but on his way back the car breaks down, so he gives it a "damn good thrashing". He runs back only to serve the guests trifle.
