Captain Planet and the Planeteers Season 5 Episode 13

Episode Title: Numbers Game

Episode Plot
It’s Wheeler’s birthday, and the Planeteers are taking him to Coney Island to celebrate! Wheeler is so excited about this outing that he has had insomnia
for about a week, and he doesn’t know that this sleep deprivation will catch up to him later on. He snarfs down a burger in one bite and is about to open
his present from Kwame when Gaia appears. After wishing Wheeler a happy birthday, she has the unfortunate duty to inform the Planeteers that they have
to help the residents in a South American shanty town who are being washed away by mudslides. Disappointed, Wheeler puts his present aside, and the Planeteers
rush to the rescue.

They work feverishly to help the villagers, but the rains and dangerous conditions necessitate the summing of Captain Planet. As soon as Cap saves the
town and receives the people’s gratitude, he wishes Wheeler a happy birthday before returning to the Earth. A rather audible yawn is the first tell-tale
sign that the birthday boy is feeling the effects of his sleep deprivation.

After the Planeteers help to clean up the disaster area, they see that they would not make it to Coney Island before Wheeler’s birthday is over; so they
decide to take him to an environmental amusement park that is a short flight away. It is Wheeler who elects to start off by going on the roller Coaster,
but the sleepies and the queezies both overtake him. He also falls asleep on an educational holographic ride. When he talks Linka into going through
the tunnel of love with him, he only enjoys the cuddling for a minute or two.

In the blink of an eye, Wheeler notices that Linka is no longer in the boat with him, but in the holographic wedding scene and wearing a wedding dress!
Suddenly, the boat stops on the shoreline of Hope Island, and Wheeler falls out of the boat – and into a tuxedo!

With Kwame and Gi as best man and maid of honor, the wedding begins. A nervous Wheeler stands before the alter and watches as Cap walks Linka down the
aisle. Once Gaia conducts the ceremony (with only Wheeler taking the vows), she tells Wheeler to kiss the bride. Instead, he passes out!

The next thing Wheeler knows, he is sitting up on the couch in one of the huts and calling out to the others that he had a nightmare. A look in the mirror
sends an even bigger fright into the redhead, for; in that mirror was the face of a middle aged version of him. He is equally shocked to find Linka has
aged as well – and is very pregnant! It seems that hope Island has been clear cut, and Wheeler and Linka are the parents of eight children!

When Linka sends Wheeler to the shopping mall for food, six of the children follow him, and that’s when it hits the fan! In the grocery store, the children
are running into different directions. Some are helping gather groceries, but others are begging for toys or telling him that they have to go to the bathroom.
It gets worse when the children grab Wheeler’s credit card and run loose throughout the mall buying everything in sight. To Wheeler’s shock, the eco-villains
are running all the stores and gouging prices as much as they can.

When Wheeler and the children finally make it back home, poor Wheeler is bombarded with criticisms from his fellow Planeteers about over-consumption and
the fact that he and Linka have too many kids. Plunder, who owns the bank even, threatens to foreclose on Wheeler’s mortgage if he does not pay up soon.
A grumpy Gaia tells the Planeteers that the local sewage plant, run by Sly Sludge, is about to blow. Wheeler is the only one who puts his heart into
calling Cap. Instead of materializing and flying into action, Cap appears and is in an uncharacteristically grouchy mood. He complains while rushing
over to the sewage plant, and is unable to stop the explosion. He demands that someone washes “this crud offa me”; and when Wheeler offers to do it, Linka
throws a pail of water over both of them.

The scene fades to show a young Wheeler waking from the most intense nightmare he has ever had. Once Linka has woken him up by splashing water on him,
he awakes with a start. Surprisingly enough, he is the one to shy away when Linka tries to kiss him! He then tells Linka that if he ever gets married,
he does not want more than two children.
The Planeteer Alert that ghoes with this episode focuses on how the world's population is at nearly 6 billion people, an dthat we not only need to seriously consider the size of our families, but we must reduce our consumption.
