I don't know how you could take transforming robots and picture something like power rangers.
It's not going to be kiddy, it's going to be aimed at the star wars fan-base. Producer Don Murphy wants to make this movie so that hardcore fans can say, "now THAT is what a transformers movie is supposed to be!"
He, as well as Spielberg, feel compelled to stay true to the essence of the series. The special effects will be very sophisticated, no people in big robot suits standing over a miniature city.
All the transformers will be the way they should be, in vehicles that actually look like real human vehicles. Although there is going to be changes to practical reasons. Megatron will be a tank and Soundwave (so far) will be a helicopter. Optimus is going to be a good old fashioned red 18-wheeler. Just as god intended
As long as things keep rolling, it should be great. And there is going to be more movies. Murphy, Spielberg, and Bay are working on this as a trilogy, with Unicron making an appearance in a later movie.
If all goes well, we'll have another good sci-fi movie trilogy that fans can sink their teeth into.
