Funky Guy 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 2705 Account Disabled	Lotsa foriegn pressings, limited editions, colored vinyl and bootlegs? Yeah me too. Foriegn pressings are always interesting to look for for the variations in cover art, sometimes a different shot from the well known version, sometimes a whole other cover, different mixes of songs or different running order of songs ect. I treasure my Japanese pressing of The Who's Odds and Sods, it's sound quality puts many of the cds I own to shame.

I'm excited about the prospect of proper reissues of the UK Beatles albums next year (which will hopefully include the two volumes of Past Masters to collect up all the non album singles.) Those 80's Beatles reissues should have been retired ages ago.

cartoonfreak 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 675	I'm not a big beatles fan but I've got a couple of their records and a VHS labled the compleat beatles(seriously it has complete spelled like that), in my collection of junk(I call it junk because it doesent really center around any particular genre of collecting) that I've amassed over the years. I mean don't get me wrong I like the beatles but I'm more into groups from the 70's 80's & 90's. and just out of curiosity has anyone ever heard of groups like ohio, or bread? just wondering because I have a couple of albums from these two groups.

Funky Guy 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 2705 Account Disabled	Yeah I have a couple of bootlegs of the Beatles I downloaded too, - The Christmas fanclub flexidiscs all on one cd - The Strawberry Feilds Sessions - Demos done at George Harrison's house in Esher for the White Album - 2 cd-rs of stuff from the Get Back/ Let it Be sessions and the Alternate Abbey Road made up of unused takes, out-takes and mono mixes of songs from Abbey Road.

The U.S. vs. John Lennon is scheduled for release on September 15. I heard my first Beatles song in 7th grade. In Music Appreciation class, we listened to "When I'm Sixty-Four" -- a group of students were helping senior citizens for a class project, and they adopted this as their "theme song." I really became interested in the group when the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame brought in this huge John Lennon exhibit on the 20th anniversary of his death. I've been to Strawberry Fields in Central Park; there's a framed photo of the Imagine mosaic on my bedroom wall. My dad has Abbey Road, Let It Be, and The Beatles (aka The White Album) on vinyl. He also has their releases on the Vee Jay label; these are sealed in plastic. I have the 8-DVD Anthology set and a boxed set of all the UK albums, including Past Masters Vol. 1 & 2. I listen to Joe Johnson's Beatle Brunch every Sunday. "In My Life" is probably my favorite Beatles song.

I'm getting fed up with the whole mash ups thing period, I just look at it as entertainment for hipsters. I guess I'm a purist or something. I've been checking out the Love mixes and think they should have not bothered. Why are we getting compilation after compilation? Admitedly I'm fond myself of the ones from the 70's and 1988's Past Masters set which served a useful purpose but these latest ones like Yellow Submarine Songtrack, One, Let it Be Naked (who was this for?, people who didn't have Anthology 2 and 3? The stripped down versions of Let it be songs on there were way better than the ones on Let it be Naked imo), Love... I find pointless. Please just get around to properly releasing the UK albums in improved technology. Imo there hasn't been a worthwhile Beatles archive release since 1996, the time when Anthology 3 was released.

Mario_Madness 6 years 5 months ago Posts: 1549	There is much arguement about who is better The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Seeing as the Beatles didn't run for that long and don't play anymore, but The Rolling Stones still do, I would have to say that The Rolling Stones are much better.

Funky Guy 6 years 5 months ago Posts: 2705 Account Disabled	The Stones are also an excellent band and I don't buy into the whole pitting the Stones against the Beatles thing, especially since they themselves got along and on a few occasions appeared on each other's stuff. The Stones' lonjevity has worked in their favour, it's yeileded a great deal of classic albums and songs but I don't think lasting a long time always equals greatness. There's something to be said about quitting while you're ahead. Also, it's been revealed in the past while that the Beatles may have been ready to do something together again in the 80's, there were already plans for an Anthology style project at that time on a smaller scale (two hour tv special, one album rarities comp and maybe a new song) but John Lennon being murdered put an end to that. The Beatles can't get back together, their lead guitarist and head songwriter are dead.
