classic loony tuness vs loony tunes show

    		 i think that classic loony tunes is way better than loony tunes show sure in the loony tunes show you still have the same characters such as daffy duck, bugs bunny and porky pig but they are not so loony as they use to be in the classic loony tunes cartoons

    		 Dude, everyone knows that the classic Tunes are the best. Only 5 year-olds would choose The Looney Tunes Show. Why make a thread on this? It's just wrong.

    		 Classic, it has to be classic. New Looney Tunes ruined the characters.

    		Sharkbate has a very timely point in this thread. No matter where I go, I run into people of all ages that can tell me about a Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies short that burned itself into their memories. And the old school weird toons seem to have the most staying power.

    Take the 1944 short "Brother Brat" where Porky becomes a babysitter to a monster - this toon was taken out of broadcast years ago but now everyone seems to mark this as a Looney Tunes's sweet spot:

    They've withstood the test of time due to
    their excellent quality.
    Here we are discussing them 50,60 even
    70 years past their release date.

    When I was younger an anvil fell on
    my foot. I was taken to the dr
    (I believe he was an Indian gentlemen-thick accent)
    and 3x my age at that time and
    he wasn't sure what an anvil was. I
    tried describing it as a big solid
    brick of metal used in metal working
    but he showed no sign of comprehension.

    Then i simply said, "You know those big metal things
    that fall on Wille E. Coyote's head." Instant cross
    generational and cross cultural comprehension.
    He responded,..one of those?...Ouch.

    		 I love the new show. I find there both real good. The point of the Looney Tunes Show was to be different.
    You should watch Old Looney Tunes if you want to see that funny violence and Looney Tunes show to see them as if they were real people.

    I like how Porky Pig thinks he's supposed to follow the directions in the child psychology book when in reality the mother just uses it to spank her son lol.

    As for the question, I choose old Looney Tunes no contest.

    		 I'll go against the grain and say that I like both. The old Looney Tunes always make me laugh, and I always have a smile on my face when watching "The Looney Tunes Show". I like the program, and as someone who didn't particularly like "Space Jam", I like Kristen Wiig's interpretation of Lola Bunny. Making her a crazy character worked. I can get more solid laughs out of one episode of "The Looney Tunes Show" than an entire season of any sitcom currently airing on a major network.

    		 Call me old-fashioned but every generation must see these early Warner Bros. cartoons. These toons all started as theater shorts, appealing to all ages, and then went to rerun heaven on TV for the next half century.

    The golden age of Looney Toons and Merrie Melodies seem to form the foundation of what a cartoon can be - sorta like a rosetta stone for animation.

    Kids that never get to see the really crazy episodes miss out on the true highs and lows that cartoons can reach when they're created by some truly sick, er... creative, minds.

    		 i totally agree, kids these days need to see classic cartons like loony tunes other wise they might not end up ever hearing about it before like they might have never heard of shows like shows such as lamb chop's play along or the shari lewis show and let me just point out i'm only using shari lewis and lamb chap as examples

    This is excellent New Age Reto Hippie. Yes, Rosie the Riveter needs Porky to babysit Butch. When she tells Porky, "If he gives you any trouble . . . use the book", she means to spank him with but Porky misunderstands and actually reads the book!

    That's the hook that carries the entire cartoon and it's such a good hook that the Warner Bros. boys use it in several cartoons of the era. It still fascinates me that psychology, or books on psychology, form the main plot point for so many crazy cartoons that I saw as a kid.

    Wasn't there a whole series of toons where mice use psychology to help old,depressed cats improve their spirits, or face having a newer, younger cat enter the scene and actually catch them?
