Original Recipe or Extra Crispy?

So I was feeling rather nostalgic and hungry yesterday at the around the same time which led me to thinking about restaurants and food franchises when I was a child. Anyway I started thinking about chicken and the great big old toys that KFC use to give when I was a kid and the big buckets, so I ended up actually going to KFC. They don't have the fantastic old toys they use to anymore btw lol. I wanted a Bucket of Chicken and the girl said it was $25 something and I was all like ''wow'' but then I ordered it anyway and she said it was going to be an extra $1.65 for each piece of chicken that I wanted white chicken! So I was all like ''you want me to pay like $75 dollars for chicken'' Anyway I ended up getting a few pieces of white chicken in the bucket. So she took my money and said ''Thank you''

I said ''Wait, aren't you going to ask me if I want extra crispy or original recipe?'' because I remember that from when I was a child. She said ''What are you talking about'' I was like ''Oh they don't do that anymore?'' and she was like ''Ive never heard of that in my life all our chicken is the same and I'm pretty sure it always has been'' and I was like ''No no it hasn't'' and then she asked the manager and like 5 other people working and they all said the same thing!!!

Did I really dream this?! I could have swore they use to have extra crispy or original recipe at KFC?

Some one please help am I losing it? lol thanks :)

Damn, how old were all these people?! you'd think if there was at least someone in their late 20s they'd remember seeing commercials at least.

I haven't been there in years (at least 7) I keep wanting to try it again but there is always something else I want more so we opt for that instead.

That doesn't sound right...I was at a KFC about 6 months back and they have original and crispy. They'd have to seeing as one is deep fried and the other has a normal skin.

On a side note I remember as a kid thinking crispy WAS the original since that was all we got and it tastes much better in my opinion.

Agree with vkimo...pretty sure they still have it. In fact it's right here

    Original Recipe®
    Extra Crispy™
    Kentucky Grilled Chicken®
    Extra Crispy™ Tenders
    Hot Wings™
    Original Recipe® Bites
    Gameday Bucket or Box NEW!

Sounds like they are pranking you at that KFC. Or stupid. You should go back and say "Are you stupid in this KFC?"

Wow, your local KFC franchisee is a mean AND stupid person. Maybe they are friends with keerjeerclacko's local KFC franchisee and they conspire to make fast food customers sad. This league of rogue franchisees must be stopped at all costs! Raise up Zombie Col. Sanders, load the Bucket Bombs and Crispy Cannons! Call the Coupon Crusaders and release the Fingerlickers! Fight the Foul Frans! Fight for the right of herbs and spices! Fight for crispy for all!

I'd call corporate KFC and report your local restaurant. I'm pretty certain franchise or not, that they have to keep in line with KFC's standards and offer original AND crispy.

Yea something told me I should have been doing that the whole time and my instinct was right. The food was just awful and the service is ridiculous. It turns out they ARE still supposed to offer Extra Crispy or Original Recipe and the fact that not even the guy who owns the place is aware of this is insane. Fast Food places or Restaurant Franchises in general these days are just not the same. I'll go one better than that....They suck!

KFC is not the same in every country they have stores.

I've heard stories that in India KFC has some unique items that Americans might like to try. I'm not sure where you're located keerjeerclacko, but I remember that back in the 80's KFC quickly withdrew Extra Crispy from the menu in Southeast Asia and Australia - and I have no clue as to why.

My fav was extra crispy because I love the skin part. But I recall that they got rid of it..maybe the late 90's? I'm not sure. It was when KFC changed their menu and didn't offer crispy in any form and they had cornbread instead of biscuits. I don't know if this was the menu everywhere but it was like that where I live in NJ. I don't know if they were trying to be healthier, mimic Boston Market or what, but that turned me off of KFC and I stopped going there. They eventually changed back, but they got rid of extra crispy so now my fast food of choice is Popeyes
