Did you ever do this just once on Christmas Eve?

I remember my parents saying that they had a "tradition" of opening one present on Christmas Eve right before going to bed.

Yeah, I believe most families have this tradition.

But what I'm asking is, has anyone done this right before Christmas? I know it sounds like a strange question, but I'm just curious.

I guess my family is a bit strange in the sense that we've always opened gifts and celebrated the most on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is basically just another day/meaningless to me, which kinda sucks.

Same here LOL I was just discussing this with my cousin on Facebook. We have always done Christmas on Christmas Eve. When I was a kid we would go to my grandparents house, come home and open presents, go to midnight mass, come home and stay up until 5 am messing with what ever gifts I got. Christmas day is usually boring.

Never, that would spoil all the fun of Christmas morning.

We always opened one on Christmas Eve. A couple of times I tricked my parents into letting me open two because I always opened something I couldn't take to bed with me. LOL. Of course, now I frequently exchange gifts on Christmas Eve because we have so many people to visit.

We always did the ONE on Christmas eve growing up and I convinced my husband to keep doing it this way with my son. However, one year when my son was two my husband convinced me to let him open all his presents Christmas eve and we opened our few to each other that evening as well. I was SO bored and depressed the next day because it was so different from tradition for me. Maybe depressed isn't the right word, I mean they ARE only presents and I guess in a sense it doesn't matter WHEN you open them, it just really sucked waking up to Christmas morning and there being nothing to do. Never again lol

Actually opening all the gifts on Christmas eve is the traditional thing to do here in the country where I live.

I used to have that tradition when I was younger. It was the one thing that got me through the forced Christmas eve mass. Now I don't get really anything outside of money.
Thats right I ran over the Taco Bell dog...... I got banned from Taco Bell for life.

The only ones that I knew who opened them all Christmas eve were people who didn't do Santa at all. Most people I knew opened most presents on Christmas day. However one or two said that their mom would have them open all the presents from the family on Christmas Eve and then Christmas day only the "Santa" presents were under the tree.
