Do you ever wonder why religion feels so uneasy?

    		 *WARNING: RELIGIOUS RANT/DISCUSSION Hi, I don't know what I am I can be either agnostic or Christian. Total rejection of belief in a deity makes no sense to me whatsoever.

    All the Christian churches ever preach is unappealing. Why should I have to give up living a shadow just to fulfill the 'real promise' if it's unattainable to us mortals and we never succeed at our chance to fulfill the shadow? Why can't God believe in second chances (IE earthly feelings) in heaven? And adding to this, why do they have such pessimism for the future in regards only to their demographic decline (Gee no wonder the world is supposed to end in 6 days). This is the ACTUAL only reason why I still fear 2012 just a little bit, and death in general. Why is the biblical God supposed to be love, but he's all jealousy for us? Christians would try to convert our resistance into appeal by saying 'There are more exciting things that await us.' Not a second chance for Earthly virgins who wanted sex and girls in heaven I guess.

    But I'll try to dissect it anyway:

    Putting aside my own beliefs, I have to ask these questions in response to some of what you stated -

    I have to scratch my head here and ask, "What about eternal life in a place that supposedly has streets made of gold and a mansion especially for you, is unappealing?"

    I'm sorry, this entire statement has lost me. Please explain what exactly you mean.

    This is equivalent to asking the question, "Why can't Tom Cruise star in a film on Earth?"

    Here you really lose me. What on Earth are you talking about?

    What rules exist that limit any being to only one characteristic? Why should we be allowed to love AND be jealous, but not God? The Bible is pretty clear in pointing out that God has MANY characteristics... that he not only loves, but is a jealous God. Hence, there can be no other gods before him.

    And then some comment about sex and virgins that seems irrelevant.

    That's all I can come up with here. I'm still lost. lol

    		 yeah it's a pretty confusing statement it's like you're saying I'm religous but i don't want to be. I'm personally an atheist but i try not to bring it up unless a discussion like this is brought up because you tend to really get flamed on for not believing, I stopped believing in god when i was about 13 years old.

    		 It's not arrogant to say that you can't figure out the answers to the universe with your internal faith. It's not arrogant to know that there's no omniscient, omnipotent prime mover in the universe who loves you personally. It's not sad to feel that life and the love of your real friends and family is more than enough to make life worth living. Isn't it much sadder to feel that there is a more important love required than the love of the people who have chosen to spend their limited time with you?

    And it's probably because most religions are just in place to make people feel better about briefly existing on a huge piece of space rock flying towards oblivion (and the universe will very much be unaffected when that happens)

    		 That's the real question isn't it? I don't claim to have any answers. Athiest's believe there is nothing, most religions believe there is some kind of heaven. What about in between? The universe is a complicated and complex place with infinite possibilities.
