    OK OK...in high school there was a Blockbuster just up the street from school. I would go there and buy 3-packs of blank tapes. Dozens of them. The manager noticed, and asked what I was doing with them. I told him I make videos, I want to make movies. Which was true, but what I was really doing with most of those blank tapes was making copies of all the movies I rented there (two or three a week) :lol: He was a nice guy. In encouragement of my hobby, he gave me a discount on blanks.

    Blockbuster was the second video store to open in my home town. They drove the first store out of business, despite having a smaller store. Then they opened a second location in the old store's place. Happily (in my opinion) both of those stores eventually closed and the location of the first store returned to housing an independent video store again. Of course, now that is closed and there is no video store at all in my home town. Sign of the times...

    		 Whenever I think of Blockbuster (or any video rental store) I'll always think of horror movie box art. I loved looking at those when I was a kid. The sad thing was, ninety-percent of the time, the cover art was a lot better than the actual movie.

    		 I grew up in a very rural area, and the next town over only had like the mom and pop video stores (which I think were better anyway hehe) or a chain called Sounds Easy Video, which later switched to Movie Gallery. I'm sure the bigger cities in Maine, maybe Portland or Augusta or in Bangor had a blockbuster, but I didn't actually enter one myself until I was 25 and living in California. The first thing I ever rented was a boxed set of the first season of Amazing stories :)

    		 Very little. The only one I can specifically remember ever going to was one which was inside tops market, and that video store was dinky as hell. I remember that I had checked out a blockbusters years before that but that they're prices were high and/or they only had overnight rentals.
    Oddly, i have more experiences with blockbuster now that there aren't any around here than I ever did when there were. I get free rentals via mail for having dish.

    When video renting was in it's prime, I first rented from convenience stores, then some specialized shops opened up (movie stop, flick's, and one I don't remember the name of). Later there was pharmor video, iggle video from giant eagle, wegmans, some other odds & ends places, then hollywood video, then family video (the only video rental place still with a brick & mortar shop in this town).
