If I could have your attention for a moment, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to a website called Retrodaze.com. It's very similar to Retrojunk. You can write and submit articles, send PMs to each other, discuss retro things in the forums and more! I'm not asking you to ditch Retrojunk, I'm just asking to please give Retrodaze a chance. The site should be completed by tomorrow. There's some stuff being tested on there. I've already registered to the site.

Thanks for the mention crow. Indeed, it will never be what RetroJunk is. RJ is simply too massive and deep to ever duplicate. Instead, it is more of a companion to RJ. Just a way to expand on what we already love about sites like these. And uh. . . maybe get a little money in the process. ;)

It kind of looks very much like the original retrojunk site from a few years ago.

I have invited Caps 2.0 to share that duty, and he accepted. I don't like being the sole "honcho" in most personal endeavors. :)

And yes, visually I took many cues from the old RJ and X-Entertainment, two of my all time favorite sites.

Some things not yet implemented on the site are: Sticky and Locking threads, video embedding (if one cannot be uploaded), and a few other things on the Admin side. Oh, and it's not on MY servers yet. It's still on Webmento (the developer) servers.

Oh, we can register already? I thought that wasn't until tomorrow. Well, I did it. Will I have to redo it when it goes on the real server? Anyway, here's looking forward to a great new site.

I don't think it will be necessary to re-register. To my knowledge, the database should simply be packed up and installed on my hosts server. And hey, thanks so much. I just wanted to create a place that captured that old feel of RJ without replacing it.

The design kind of reminds me of Retrojunk's 2003 design.

But nevertheless though, I decided to register.

    I like it so far.

    Edit:
Ok, I just tried registering and got an error message: "PHP warning" and a bunch of strange words and codes after it.

I don't think I'm ready to go from one malfunctioning nostalgia forum to another.

You should've gotten an e-mail saying you were registered by now.

That error message is a sign that Webmento is doing some kind of work on the back end. It has happened many times during the course of the past few weeks, each time it is because something is being changed or worked on by them.

EDIT: The error that is present after registration does not prevent registration, so those who have registered and received the error CAN still sign in with the credentials that they submitted prior to the error. Just FYI.

EDIT 2: Well, it's looking like today WON'T be the day that everything is in place. Hopefully sometime this weekend things will be completely finished. We'll see.

Several of the missing features have been added today! You can now embed videos instead of uploading them for submission, larger avatars in the forum, editing and deleting is in place in the forum, closing of categories, and more! Hurray!!!
