As you heard about Kevin Clash, The muppeteer behind a little red furry monster named Elmo. Has resigned from Sesame Street on November 20th, 2012. This was due to being sued by Cecil Singleton. For violating on underage sex. Elmo debut on Season 17 (1985-1986). And the most popular song of his is "Elmo's Song." On Season 30 (1998-1999), He was so popular that he gained his own segment called "Elmo's World." Which feature his pet goldfish, Dorothy and a mime named "Mr. Noodle." During Season 40 (2008-2009), Elmo's World was dropped in favor of a new segment called "Elmo the Musical." I think Season 44 (2012-2013) will be the last season for Elmo. Since Kevin Clash has left Sesame Street.

I saw Elmo on Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which was after the incident, so it doesn't look like they'll retire him.

I know that kids see only Elmo, not the people behind him. Elmo will survive.

Elmo's too popular to go away. They're most likely going to find one of their other puppeteers to be the new voice of Elmo. Either someone who's worked for Sesame Street for years, or somebody who's new and in training.

Also, Season 45 is still going to use Kevin Clash as Elmo since they already finished filming that season. So, it's actually going to be two years until they start using Elmo's new performer.

They said that they were already training people for years to take over in the event of Mr. Clash not wanting to do elmo anymore. So I'd guess one of the alternates/understudies will step in.

What kind of idiotic question is that.

They didn't retire Ernie when Jim Henson died.

It's not nearly as idiotic as ending a question with a period. Keep your troll comments to yourself!

Well of course. Steve Whitmire took over Kermit the Frog and Ernie on season 22 of Sesame Street. However, They did retire Guy Smiley when Jim Henson died. And decided to use Sonny Friendly from that point on. Sonny Friendly was recast by David Rudman after Richard Hunt's death. I used to love it when he says "Are we having a nice day or what?"
