I think we had a thread on this in the past, but now it's Official. Hostess is "filling" (Necessary Pun) bankruptcy and no longer making any products.

I went to a few stores and could find NO Twinkies. I managed to stampede an old lady and get some cupcakes and Zingers though. Time to buy some Tasty Cake stock. :(

I think they'll still be available here, they're only licenced by Hostess and made by a different company, so doubt this will affect the Canadian versions

I read somewhere that Hostess includes Drakes cakes products and Wonder Bread?? So does this also mean no more Devil Dogs?? I prefer those over Twinkies plus the fruit pies.

That's right, Drake's was acquired by Interstate Bakeries Corporation, (IBC), back in 1998. So no more Ring Dings, Yodels or Devil Dogs until a new buyer shows up. When IBC emerged from bankruptcy, (either the 1st one or the 2nd one - I'm not sure), the name was changed to Hostess Brands, Inc. and that's the company that suspended operations on Friday, November 16, 2012.

A new owner should emerge soon enough, Hostess Brands are very valuable - too valuable to be off the market for long.

Does the US Government really want all the children around the world to stick to healthier choices rather than eat a lot of Hostess junk?

Treehugger.com has a recipe for vegan twikies. The problem is that the things look like shredded wheat.

Public sector unions??? Hostess is a privately owned business. The dispute is with a private sector union(s). :P Though I think both should be made extinct.

This is such a sad end for all the Hostess employees. Back in September Hostess Brands cut an agreement with the Teamsters and the machinists for wage and benefit cuts. But the bakers union, (the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union - BCTGM), rejected the offer.

The worse part is now all Hostess workers are out of a job with no severance package and the holiday season in their faces. What a time to be unemployed.
