Who else remembers the old McDonald's restaurants with a basement party room or storage area. Do you have any associated memories?

This feels like a thread with a question that little to no people have the answer to.:?

I don't ever remember going down to a basement but there was a door inside the restaurant you passed through that went inside the next room that had a big playground...it was somewhere outside Toronto I cant recall where, but does anyone remember the playground they had outside? I specifically remember the one near Keele & Finch in Toronto but they took it down in 2000. I was kinda sad when that happened. Infact, I haven't seen any Mcdonalds with a playground outside where they had the slides, and the little hamburgers you jump on and ride like ponies.

It feels to me like a pedophile fantasy, hey kids let's go to the "party room" it's dark and full of boxes and shelves and no one will be able to hear us

We don't have basements here in the south. I seem to remember a few stores built in the 70s having a separate party room, but I think the idea was abandoned early on. I think they still have them in some other countries though.

Sounds pretty creepy to me. I have never been nor would I let my children go down to the McD's basement.

Last time I checked, basements were used FOR storage, but apparently they have another use.

I don't think there are any basements at my local MCDonalds. I live in Southern California, and basements are pretty uncommon here.

I'm from Canada, and we definitely had McDonald's with party rooms in the basement! I had my 7th birthday there. They had a bunch of games set up, etc. etc. You're not crazy though because I definitely remember this lol.

The McDonalds on Chestnut St in Needham MA has a basement (unless it's been redone). I was a manager there 20 years ago. We used to sneak down there to the stock room to smoke. The freezer was down there too and it was a royal pain in the ass.

I never remember partying in the basement of a McDonald's...

Anytime I went to a birthday party there it was always in the "play area" or whatever they called it.
