Sorry, I THINK that is what it's called. My son had mentioned wanting one for his birthday, but I wanted to get opinions on if we should hold off a bit on it. I heard it's got a lot of glitches and there are not many games out for it yet. I saw you can use netflix, which is cool, but I guess that depends on how great the wi-fi is? He has a DS and I know that the wi-fi on the ds is super weird. The router has to be on a specific setting for it to work and then when the wi-fi on the ds works, that is the ONLY thing the wi-fi works for, so it was like it was either/or in comparison to an ipod touch or a nook where it works with just the normal wi-fi on the router.
Anywho, in your opinions, is it worth getting at the moment or is it something that should be held off on for awhile? I wasn't sure if they were coming out with a less glitchy one or what.
    :)

I'd hold off on it, or get him a 3DS instead. Better games on the 3DS right now, plus he can play all his old DS games on it.

I own one and have really been enjoying it, it's like having a PS3 on the go. The library of games isn't phenomenal yet but considering it's only been on the market since mid-February it's not that bad either. I haven't tried using netflix on it but the wifi works really well when browsing the web.

I may buy a PlayStation Vita myself if/when the price comes down a little. I currently have a PSP and I've heard that the Vita is backwards compatible with downloadable PSP games, which I have a lot of. The only issue I currently have with my PSP is that since I had my router replaced early last year, I'm unable to get online using my wifi, so I haven't been able to download any updates or new games.

meh , loading times are way too long on Vita.

Imho latest Android Smartphones are good enough to play videogames.

Ya can even emulate nearly all the ps1/n64/snes/saturn/megadrive games on it.

here"S Silent Hill 1 on an older Android Smartphone :

I think the controls on smartphones suck compared to Vita. And I haven't played too many games with bad loading times. There's a few parts in Gravity Rush that are take a bit longer than normal but at the same time it has a pretty big open world so it's not surprising.
