I used it for years and can't complain.

It was ok and much better than 98 or ME. I used it for awhile too, but like NT there were a lot of compatibility issues. XP and 2000 both used the NT kernel, but 2000 lacked the built in drivers and 3rd party support. Remember 2000 was intended for business use and ME was for home use so you didn't have all the bells and whistles. There were certain games and programs that just didn't work on 2000. This changed somewhat after XP came out, but before many programs were written for 98. Furthermore XP was able to run most 98 programs without major problems, hardware accelerated games not made for NT/2000 excluded.

Yep. I try to forget the shitty aspects of it though.

I got my first computer when 98 first came out. It was a horrible OS until Second Edition. I ended up using Windows NT 4.0. I had a lot of dealings with 95 when I did tech support for Prodigy/SBC in the early 2000s. 95 C was pretty good, but A and B were very buggy. Windows 95a didn't even have USB support. 98 was a step backwards when it for came out because of all the bugs. Microsoft was crap till XP IMHO.

A giant leap in capability of OS. Start menu/Task bar were originated here. Then came '98 wich raise the bar even further. Windows Me *barf*.
