Well, I finally started collecting beta tapes. As of right now I only have one, but it'll grow. Only one problem: I can't even play them, since I don't have a beta player. Anyone know where I could get one for very cheap? I don't want to pay more than 20 dollars for one.

You better find it at a garage sale/estate sale/thrift store/craigslist because if you don't pick it up locally, you'll likely pay more than $20 in shipping alone. Them old bugs are heavy.

I tried around 2001, 2002 when I came into a pile of tapes for free. I found a couple of decks but couldn't get them to work :/

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-Betamax-Player-VCR-Beta-Time-Commander-SL-5800-/200702241259?pt=VCRs&hash=item2ebac929eb

Buy it now for $39.99... Might not do much better than that, especially for a functioning one. Good luck though!
