Just Bought An NES;Game suggestions?

AtlantaCommercials 1 year 3 months ago Posts: 1536	I just bought an NES for 20 dollars at the Goodwill but,it didn't came with any cartridges. I was thinking of you guys suggesting what are the best games to buy for this boy who haven't played video games in 12 years. I was personally thinking of Bart Vs. The Mutants and Rampage myself.

Deleted 1 year 3 months ago Posts: 54340	I wrote an article here a few years ago, listing my 20 personal favorite NES games. I would recommend buying all the games I had on my list: http://www.retrojunk.com/details_articles/1527/ One thing that I should point out about my list is that I have Mega Man 5 and Mega Man 3 on it and no Mega Man 2 (most people like 2 the best, but I personally prefer 5 and 3 over it). You really should just buy all the NES Mega Man games. They are all well worth it.

Drahken 1 year 3 months ago Posts: 2141	You'll probably want to avoid the first TMNT game, everyone hates it. It is a decent game once you get into it, but it's not at all what people expect & the difficulty level is quite high. A mega man game, castlevania 3, super mario 3, and metroid are ones you should definitely experience. One of the adventure island ones, gargoyle's quest II, kid icarus, and what might well be my #1 fav, the guardian legend. Guardian legend alternates between space shooter levels and more dungeon crawler type levels, really giving you 2 games in one. On top of that, it does both types extremely well. I would rec guardian legend if you were just looking for a space shooter or if you were just looking for a dungeon crawler, but even more so if you want both.

Timothy1964 1 year 3 months ago Posts: 795	If you are into space-themed games and "shoot-'em-ups", try: Air Fortress Star Soldier Section Z Destination Earthstar Also, many of the old school (early 1980's) arcade classics were released for NES, including: Pac-Man Ms. Pac-Man Galaga Millipede Defender If you are into casino/gambling games, try the NES version of Caesar's Palace. When you exit the game, you "leave Las Vegas" in a vehicle based on how much money you've won in the game. If you've lost all your money in the casino, you leave on a bus. I don't know what you leave in if you hit it big...probably a limo or even a jet! I know a taxi is one of the vehicles if you have money when you exit the game.

An easy way to do that is via an online emulator such as one of these: http://www.virtualnes.com/index.html http://www.playnes.net/plug.php?e=browsegames http://www.nescafeplay.com/main/ Playing those games with a keyboard, in your browser kinda sucks, but it'll let you explore various games & decide which ones you want to buy.

If we were talking about playing long term, they wouldn't even be a consideration. However, since we are talking about simply trying out some games before going & buying them somewhere, the browser ones come in handy.

But the problem with browser emulation is the fact that how slow and laggy they are, and some of them don't have any classic games that you want to play.
