There seems to be a lot of debate on whether Eli Manning should be considered an Elite QB. Some are saying he has earned it, others are saying no.
Well let's think about. Drew Brees is considered an Elite QB. Sure, he did lead the Saints to beat the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. But look at his past two playoff games. He lost to the 8-9 Seahawks in 2010, and than in the last playoff game of 2011, instead of going with the hail mary on the last play, which I'm sure he would of completed, he instead starts tossing the ball back and forth. Now, does that translate into an Elite QB?
Now look at Tom Brady. He's considered a god when it comes to QB's. No debate there, as that he is. However, as he's gotten older, he's started to choke more at the big games he's needed to win. And that's costing him his Hall of Fame spot. Not just that, but every time they do win the Super Bowl under him, it was always by three points, not just some big score that the other team couldn't come back from.
Now Eli Manning. He constantly has his up and downs. One season his team clinches home-field advantage, the next they don't even make it to the playoffs for two years. But look at what he has done. In 2007, they were considered one of the worst teams in the NFL. They barely made it to the playoffs. But he led the Giants to take down two magnificent teams: the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. No one thought they would do that. Than they defeated the New England Patriots under Tom Brady. Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme and Donovon McNabb couldn't even do that!
Now the past Super Bowl, they did the exact same thing! They took down two magnificent teams in the playoffs, and than beat the Patriots again in the Super Bowl.
I do believe Eli is an Elite QB, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan of the Giants. I think one more title will prove to people that he is Elite.
