So, what's everyone's opinion on this subject?

Either way, the debt ceiling had to be raised. Either way, we would've went into an extended recession, maybe even depression...

Our economy is fucked. There's no way we can possibly pay this back.

I have news for you we are already in an extended recession aka a double dip recession. The democrats are fucking this country up worst than Bush ever did. For the first time I'm really worried about our future. What's sad is there is a good chance Obama will be re-elected.

If independents care about this country they will vote for the primary republican candidate in 2012. Also Ron Paul need to tell his people to vote for them and not waste their vote on him.

I love it how the democrats are saying Obama has been unable to do anything to help our economy because he's had his hands tied up by the republicans...yet he had a democrat super majority for 2 years and did nothing during that time (except try to outspend Bush and pass an expensive health care bill that we couldn't afford and nobody wanted). Now he suddenly says that we need to cut back on spending and all live within our means, probably because his approval ratings are plummeting and next year is election time. He is such an empty suit.

Obama will never get back into office if things keep going the way they are now. People are finally waking up to what a joke of a president he is. However, I still have not seen anyone on the republican side who has impressed me. Everyone says Romney will be the nominee for sure...but Romney has a long history of flip flopping on issues, which makes it hard for me to trust him.

It looks like Rick Perry will probably run. He's an old school conservative that doesn't flip flop. However being he's from Texas and was Bush's Lieutenant Governor before taking over as governor some may not vote for him. You already know the dems will use that to scare voters towards Obama. Also Texas has debt issues too under his leadership. Still I'm take Perry over Romney as presedent anyday.

This Perry guy seems like a piece of shit. I don't know how biased the information is, but the article i quote this from is linked to The New Yorker website, with the whole story. (if this is all true, this guy makes Rod Blagojevic look like a really decent guy)

PERRY ALLOWED THE EXECUTION OF A LIKELY INNOCENT MAN, THEN IMPEDED AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE MATTER:
"In 2004, Cameron Todd Willingham was executed in Huntsville, Texas after being convicted of arson and the murder of his three children. Even after significant evidence emerged showing that arson had not caused the fire (thus exonerating Willingham), Perry refused to grant a stay of execution. Five years after Willingham was executed, a report from a Texas Forensic Science Commission investigator found that the fire could not have been arson. As the commission prepared to hear testimony from the investigator in October 2009, Perry quickly fired and replaced three of its members, forcing an indefinite delay in the hearing."

Both parties are assholes and are killing the country. I say we revolt and force all politicians out of office.

I've been reading a lot of negative stuff about him too (although I don't know how much of it is truth and how much of it is BS). I do know one thing though...he's the guy who tried to get Texas to secede from the United States and now he wants to run the Unites States. Doesn't make him look very good.

rick perry is garbage, romney is the best chance republicans have. I'm surprised perry wants to be president, hes too bloody kooky. Also he boasts job growth in texas but all he brought was a crapload of mcjobs and some military. Being a resident of texas i loved footing the bill for his $10,000 a month mansion.

For a guy who is for less government in our lives he was quick to sign a bill forcing 6th grade girls to get vaccinated against stds.

Revolution actually may be around the corner, the gop now wants to raise tax on the people after fighting so hard to keep the tax exemptions for the rich. Dems and Repubs are both failures in my opinion as well.
