Strangers when they met, turns out they've got a lot in common. Both died on the same night, both ended up in the same body of water, and both took refuge in the same all-night cafe. Me, I run the place. Name's Blackie. Been here from the beginning. Now, I know I said Frank and Fay were dead, but the cafe needed a new cook and waitress, so it gave them a second chance at life. They do their job, they get to stick around and help unsuspecting customers turn their lives around. 'Course, anything can happen to those who wander in - their worst nightmares, or their forbidden dreams. Yeah, it all happens here...in this little place we call the Nightmare Cafe. In 1992 Nightmare Cafe briefly appeared on Friday nights and it was awesome! Much better than X-Files. (I don't know why, I just thought X Files was boring). It was sci-fi/adventure kind of thing. A little bit supernatural but focused on character development. It was episodic, instead of having a running storyline. I remember watching this show at my friend James's house. We lived across the woods from each other so we would often have sleepovers. The night would usually go, Battletoads, Nightmare Cafe, rental movie. Unfortunately, the show only lasted six episodes. It was kind of like Quantum leap. When the cafe materialized in a different place, the staff knew it was time for another episode, in which they would have to help somebody. The cafe was owned by "Blackie" who was played by Robert Englund. That was probably the coolest part, but I would expect that Robert Englund would not do a shitty show so I think it must be pretty good? I haven't seen this show since it was on so my memories are a bit dim. There was no home video release as far as I know. imdb wikipedia Did anybody else here watch this show? Have anything to say about it? Know of a recorded release I can buy? Wanna talk about Robert Englund or Wes Craven? |
