It just cracks me up how totally healthy people will waste so much time to find the closest spot instead of just walking

OH MY GOD! I have people at work that do the same thing. I park as far away from the building and walk to the front door. There's even employees who will park in the HANDICAP area just so they can have closer access to the door. What is the point in it all?

Is it wrong that I chain my bicycle to the pole that holds the handicapped sign?

And fight over the spot with someone else. I could care less. The walk usually isn't that far.

True. But still it's funny to see them get pissed when someone takes the spot and has to park so "far".

Even worse is the assclowns who gotta park in front of the store in the fire lane. Oh yeah god forbid your lazy ass should have to walk from the parking lot. Mr or Ms. Oh So Important has to get in and out of Wal-mart for their mongo bag of pork groins and can't be hassled with parking in the lot with us commoners.

The funniest part to me is watching them circle and circle and circle around the lot, looking for a spot that was one foot closer than the last.

That drives me crazy actually, especially when I'm at work and I'm rounding up the carts and someone is wanting for me to get out of the way. Even though there are MANY available parking spaces that would require that driver to only walk a few extra steps. Frankly they could of anyready been in the store shopping by the time I'm done.

And yes I do take my time with those carts, I ain't rushing for nothing.

    HA HA!

I find that people that aren't handicapped using those spots that aren't hurt or injured. Are they just really that lazy they can't walk another 50 feet away? I make it a point to park as far as I can so that I can get some exercise out of it, especially if I'm going to eat.

I grew up with an uncle who was paralyzed so we were a little peeved anytime we saw someone who was absolutely fine (lifting an 80lb box into their car effortlessly!) parking in the handicapped spots. I distinctly remember my mom as we were walking by a couple loading their car and rushing around saying "No kids they're just mentally handicapped!"

I find it dumb how places like Wall Mart will have 20 handicap spots and 19 of them are empty. I mean will there ever be a time that 20 handicapped people will be shopping at any store at the same time? Even convenience stores will have two or three that are always empty. Is there ever going to be 3 handicap cars at a convenience store? It makes more walking for everyone else and people freak out if someone parks in one for 5 minutes. Now when I go to the Astros games here I have a hell of a time finding a handicap spot for my dad. A place like a stadium needs lots of spaces, but they have the amount the law requires.

The people that tend to bitch about handicap parking are the ones that have a loved one in a chair. They usually push them anyway. Will it kill them to have to walk a few more feet? Honestly I don't even see the point of it for smaller business. BTW making a business handicap accessible, which is required by law cost businesses 1000s more in building cost. The fines and legal fees have put some people out of business. We are taking about business that might have one handicape customer a year and they sued because the bathroom sink was too low.

Walking from the farthest parking space to whatever store you're going to does have its advantages. Lazy people just can't see that.

I hate this too, and also try to park far away to get the exercise, even if it's not much. People who are that picky about "good spaces" are almost as bad as the fucks who use the handicap buttons to open doors for themselves.

The benefit of handicapped spots is not just their proximity to the business, but also extra width in the spot itself to allow a person to get their wheelchair out of their car, which is pretty much impossible with the car door only open part-way.

    Point taken.

Also it doesn't help either when you have a very wide vehicle and park it at an angle and not even try to adjust to where it's straight in the parking spot so that others can park next to the vehicle.

I ran into one this past weekend. White "Super" Van, pulled in very VERy slow, cut it close to another car and didn't even have some decency in backing up to straighten out the vehicle. I just randomly yelled out "Car's a little too close wouldn't you say?" The guy looked at me and then got out of his vehicle and surveyed his parking job. What a dumb-ass!
