I imagine that the coverart for the versions used on Netflix will be the same artwork used in Shout Factory's future Nickelodeon releases. Personally, I think it looks good. Also... http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Rockos-Modern-Life-Season-1-Box-Art/15126 Funny, that cover looks exactly like the one used for volume 1 of the Rocko DVDs made by Amazon.com. I wouldn't expect the episodes to be uncut, since (judging by their releases of the Mario Bros. and Captain N cartoons) they don't tend to pay for licensing fees and only use what the companies give them, so they'll probably be the censored episodes. |

Well, I hope they're uncut. But I'd still buy it if they're cut. People complained about the Ren & Stimpy DVDs being censored too much, but I didn't have a problem with it. At least they had never-before-seen parts of Sven Hoek and Dog Show. And the banned episode Man's Best Friend was all there. So if the Rocko DVD is just a little bit censored, I'd still buy it. I've been waiting so long for an official release of RML, that I'll buy anything so long as it's official, and a full season, instead of best-of set. |

There's also mention of a possible Blu-Ray release for some of these shows. Don't care much for Danny Phantom, but I'm really happy to hear that Hey Arnold!, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters are releasing. And we already knew about Rocko's Modern Life coming out, so why did you have to mention it again? Are they releasing the other seasons too? Nah, I just mentined Rocko as one of the other shows that's being released alongside Wild Thornberrys. Nothing has really been announced for the other shows listed aside from the fact that Shout Factory is given the rights to these shows through sub-licensing from Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment. Plus if these shows sell well, then Shout Factory is most likely going to release more. Well I hope they get good sales. I'd hate to have Rocko join Johnny Bravo, Darkwing Duck, The Tick, Dexter's Laboratory and Courage The Cowardly Dog as a cartoon show never got fully released. |

This just in... Shout Factory recently announced their first live-action DVD release from Nickelodeon. http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Hey-Dude-Season-1/15239 ![]() Though to be honest, I'm not sure if I'm going to buy this one since I rewatched one of the episodes on iTunes and it wasn't as great as I remember it. I might rent it when it comes out on Netflix, but other than that, this one might be a complete pass for me. Still, it's good that they're starting to release shows like that on DVD since there's definitely a demand for the show. The question there is if the sales to this show are going to do well. |

Also announced today... http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Angry-Beavers-Seasons-1-and-2/15375 ![]() Wow, I'm surprised Shout Factory is getting these shows out at a very fast pase. Especially on account that the first Shout Factory Nickelodeon DVD doesn't come out until next week (The Wild Thornberries Season 1). If they keep that up, and get even more Nickelodeon shows released this year, then that would totally make up for the wait that fans have been longing for years. They've also been doing the same thing with other classic TV shows of the 50s and 60s throughout the past couple years, most of which, have aired on Nick at Nite. I'm also surprised they decided to release Seasons 1 and 2 of The Angry Beavers at the same time. That announcement alone already makes up for that terrible Amazon Createspace release that was released last year which only contains half of Season 1. |

This was one of the things that Brian Ward mentioned on the forums, although he would have been very enthusiastic on releasing Rugrats on DVD. Yeah, I know that sounds a little disappointing to some fans, but at least Netflix has every episode, and I'm sure Shout Factory could get the rights to Rugrats if their other shows sell well on DVD. As for other stuff that was announced on the Shout Factory forums that doesn't sound like the most hopeful news, Brain also mentioned that they don't currently own the rights to Clarissa Explains it All and The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Now, that's another thing that fans were hoping, that if Shout Factory's deal would mean that these two shows that were previously released from Nickelodeon's Rewind Collection from 2005 would finally be released. But right now, they don't own the rights to those. That's not to say we won't be seeing the rest of these shows, it's just that they currently don't own the rights to those shows. |

But I hope they release the early seasons, that is if they ever get the rights to do so. |

All right, well today I bought The Wild Thornberrys Season 1 DVD set. Yeah, I know I said I wasn't a big fan of the show, but I decided to get it anyway to support Shout Factory's first DVD release of a Nickelodeon show.![]() And after I opened up the set, it came with this pamphlet. Front ![]() Back ![]() The reason why I bring up this pamphlet is mostly because of what's on the back of it that shows Shout Factory's DVD covers to Aaaahhh!!! Real Monsters, Danny Phantom, and Catdog. Not only is this the first time we've seen Shout Factory's DVD covers to those shows (which was obviously taken from Amazon's Createspace artwork) but it's also the first time a Catdog DVD release from Shout Factory has been revealed to the public. Nothing about these shows has been mentioned so far, but I'll be sure to check tvshowsondvd.com for an announcement. As for the Wild Thornberrys DVD set, I think Shout Factory put together a great release for this show. I really like how the DVD menu looks, as it perfectly fits with the nature of what the show is like. It includes all 20 episodes from season 1 (duh), and so far, from what I've seen, the picture quality looks great. There's also a play all feature on the main menu, but there's no chapter set after the opening. Instead, it goes to what comes after the first commercial break. Also, there are no bonus features in the set, which is kind of a bummer. But I'm guessing that's partly because Shout Factory couldn't get any of the people who worked on the show to do an interview with them. One of the bonus features I was expecting is the original unaired pilot where Darwin is named Bobo, or some old Nickelodeon bumpers and commercials for the show, but I guess that's also limited to weather or not Nickelodeon actually has master copies of those sitting in their vaults. There aren't even any trailers to Shout Factory's other DVD releases included. Then again, the last Shout Factory DVD set that I checked out is Captain N and the New Super Mario World. So I'm not sure if Shout still puts trailers in their DVDs. The DVD set also has 2 audio tracks for each episode... an English track, and a Spanish track. I also read on the official review on TVshowsonDVD.com that there are no captions and subtitles in this DVD set, but after seeing it for myself, they're actually wrong on that. Sure, you don't get subtitles that you turn on with your DVD remote, however, it is closed-captioned by turning it on with your TV remote. I would know that since I have the closed-captioning feature turned on my TV all the time, and the captions indeed show up on the screen. I also noticed that it's the same broadcast captions from when it aired on Nickelodeon. Now, there is one minor thing I find kind of weird about this DVD set. After the end credits is finished, and the Klasky-Csupo logo shows up, for some reason, the Nickelodeon logo that generally comes up at that point is removed and replaced with a blank screen... yet, the voice-over that's generally shown at that point is still left intact. Usually, I don't really care about the logos at the end, and I don't have much of a problem there either.... I just find it weird that they would take off the Nickelodeon logo at the end of the credits, yet still have it placed all over the DVD artwork. I guess they're not allowed to used the old Nickelodeon splat logo? I don't know. Anyway, even though I never was a big fan of this show, I still think this is a great DVD set to pick up if you are a fan of the show. After what I've seen from this so far, I can't wait to see the other Nickelodeon shows come out, including Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, and The Angry Beavers. |

As some of you may remember, I posted a thread mentioning how much I HATED the Angry Beavers getting that lousy "Create on Demand" service. So hearing Angry Beavers is getting a REAL realease that contians even more episodes (that COD one was just a "best of" I believe) is some of the best news I've heard. I'll also be getting that "Aaaahhh Real Monsters" and "Rocko's Modern Life" sets, about time Viacom or rather Nick it doing something like this. |

I was very upset not only at their releases being simple, low-quality DVD-Rs and not having any bonus features, but also at how Rocko and Angry Beavers were only "best-of" sets. I'm definately gonna buy Rocko's Modern Life; The Angry Beavers; Hey Arnold! and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and I would probably eventually get CatDog. |

I suspect that's the case for pretty much all the Nickelodeon "live action" shows. As a kid you don't notice the poor acting, which ruins the experience when you re-watch it at an older age (the only good actor from those shows I've encountered since entering the "re-watch" phase is Danny Cooksey). This in contrast to the cartoons, which were nearly always voiced by professional adult voice actors. |

So like I don't know what to make of this. I thought Nick ceased with CreateSpace yet here we have Seasons 3 and 4 now finally available on Amazon since the 23rd of September this year [2011]. That's more than two years since 1 & 2 were released. Either way I'm not buying them. But this just confuses me. I know Ward mentioned about not owning the rights or the show's not part of their deal with nick at the moment, but Createspace DVDs still in effect? I'm lost are they still in contract? Come to think of it, I can't find any info on Nick saying they're officially ending their partnership with CreateSpace. Guessing we won't see Rugrats with Shout anytime soon. |
