Yes! Starting with "The Wild Thornberrys Season 1". SHOUT! Factory (the same company who released Inspector Gadget, Sonic SatAM, and Home Movies on DVD) are releasing the Amazon Nickelodeon DVDs in stores :D . Let's hope they do full seasons of "Rocko's Modern Life" instead of those stupid "Best-Of" sets.

YES! Finally. Nickelodeon teaming up with Shout Factory to release their shows on DVD is a much better decision on their part than doing it through that crappy Amazon Createspace service. Especially on account that Shout Factory provided more fan service on their DVD releases than any other home video manufacturer I've ever seen.

Also... here's to hoping for bonus features, and more interactive DVD menus.

EDIT: I just read in the Shout Factory forums that Brian Ward, one of the DVD producers and main informer, said that they're going to try to put some bonus material on the DVD, but it's proven to be quite difficult. Either way, it already sounds like it's going to be a much better release than the crappy Amazon.com releases.

That's great news. Probably one of the worst things about the Amazon releases was the lack of bonus features.

Yeah. But I think the worst part about Amazon's Createspace releases is that they don't even test out the burned DVDs before sending them out. They just burn the DVD with whatever software they use and ship them out.

I would know that because I bought the first season of Doug from that service. Out of the three discs that I recieved, only the second disc was fully functional. The first disc didn't work at all. In fact, when I tested it on my computer, I found out it was completely blank. The third disc had the data written on it, but it was constantly skipping on all of the DVD players I tested it on including my DVD recorder. On my PC, it kept getting error messages. In the end, I threw the entire set in the garbage. Biggest waste of money I've ever spent, and I was real mad at these people for sending such a poor DVD set.

This is the best news I've heard all day! I usually go to Wal-Mart to get the newest DVDs, so hopefully they'll have them there. :D

That is indeed great news, but honestly, staring off with the "Wild Thronberries" seems a bit "lackluster" to me. I would of much perferred Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers or AHHHH! Real Monsters. But hopefully Thronberries will do well enough for this shows to get an OFFICIAL release.

From what I heard, the reason why they're starting with the Wild Thornberries as the first show is because it's one of the first Nickelodeon shows that they actually have the full rights to release. Brain Ward, one of the Shout Factory's DVD producers, stated in a forum post that shows like Rocko's Modern Life has some music issues that they would have to clear out if they were to release that show. I'm sure they'll be able to do that, however, The Wild Thornberries is one of their shows that they actually have fully clears all rights to so that's apparently why they're starting with that one first.

Oh and BTW... why do you spell it as "Thronberries"? That seems like a weird way to spell it.

I agree. Wild Thornberrys wasn't Nick's best show, Rocko, Angry Beavers, or Real Monsters would be better choices. I hope they do clear the music issues so they can release Rocko's Modern Life.

I'm definately gonna buy that! I don't really care for The Wild Thornberrys, but Rocko's Modern Life on the other hand... Is a show I've been wanting to have a DVD release for years. I hope they release the rest of the show too.

Boxart revealed for Rocko's Modern Life Season 1:

Just as I figured, they used the same exact cover that's used on Netflix except for the 2-Disc Set text in the left hand corner. It's also the same artwork from Amazon.com's best of release. I imagine that the coverart for the versions used on Netflix will be the same artwork used in Shout Factory's future Nickelodeon releases. Personally, I think it looks good.

    Also...

According to the latest news about the release of Rocko's Modern Life, the people at Shout Factory are looking to see if they can release the unedited versions as opposed to the versions that you would see in later reruns of the show. It would be cool if they are able to get the unedited versions, though that would depend on what the issues on that might be.

I would like to see some unedited episodes, because as I once said, this show isn't completely for children.

Same here. Even if they didn't use the unedited versions I'd still get this set, because like I mentioned before, I would love to have a decent release of the show. However, once I get word that it IS the unedited version, then it's an instant pre-order for me. Plus for $13 on Amazon... sounds like a good deal.

Cool! 8) I see that Rocko's Modern Life pic everywhere (just look at my avatar), but that doesn't mean it's not a great box-art. I really hope Seasons 2, 3 and 4 come out too.

I love the art for the Wild Thornberrys DVD cover. I'm also excited that they're planning to release Hey Arnold on DVD in the future. :D

Don't care much for Danny Phantom, but I'm really happy to hear that Hey Arnold!, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters are releasing. And we already knew about Rocko's Modern Life coming out, so why did you have to mention it again? Are they releasing the other seasons too?

Nah, I just mentined Rocko as one of the other shows that's being released alongside Wild Thornberrys. Nothing has really been announced for the other shows listed aside from the fact that Shout Factory is given the rights to these shows through sub-licensing from Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment. Plus if these shows sell well, then Shout Factory is most likely going to release more.
