Looks like the 3DS is coming out on March 27th... for $249.99. I was going to buy it right away, but now I think I'll just wait until Christmas. I wanna spend more time with my new 25th-anniversary DSi XL anyway.

Also, instead of the cool red and blue designs advertised, it's coming only in blue and black... I had my heart set on red too. Why do one of the colors for these sorta systems always have to be entirely black or white?

(bottom-left is what we're not getting)

    Ahhh well. Thoughts?

Ever since I read it in Nintendo Power, I was so excited! Later, when I set my eyes on the red Nintendo 3DS, I couldn't think about anything except how that colour looked awesome. Never seen a white Nintendo DS.

Too bad about the price though...nearly $250. Bummer.

I thought it was going to cost $300. I could never imagine a Nintendo handheld costing that much.

Yeah, the cost is totally bogus, I guess it has to do with the technology implemented. Here's a tip: If it's gonna make the price ridiculous, don't use it.

I saw some of the features and games that the 3DS is going to have. This is the type of DS upgrade that I might actually go for as opposed to what they've been doing before.

As for it being $250, Yeah, that is a bit much for a DS upgrade. In fact, that was how much the Nintendo Wii was during launch, and seeing as how the 3DS is going to have some of the features the Wii has (Menu, Home Button, Shop Channel with 3DSware and Virtual Console titles) as well as it's own unique features (primarily, the 3D capabilities), then that might be why they're charging $250.

That is true that it's pretty much a fully-functional system with all the same features as the Wii, but I guess ever since the original Game Boy there's sorta been this unwritten rule that everyone expects portables to be significantly cheaper than home consoles (sometimes as alternatives). Although considering how advanced they are now, I think their portability may make them a better purchase to begin with.

^ I haven't seen it so I can't argue its veracity on the features. If its an upgrade of a previous version (wich I guess it is) then its a bit over priced.

On the other hand, if its a fully-functional system the likes of Wii or someothers, then is probably well priced since portability is one key element.

Anyhow I will not pull out 250... not even close.

It's not a DS update like the DSi was. It's a new system, like from the Advance to the DS.

I'll get one for sure, not at launch though.
