Did John Lennon's Death cause a bad taste in many people's mouths?

And I don't know if anyone was around to know about the day they remember the death of Lennon, but did it seem to be The End for music and why does it intrigue us after 30 years?

I'm assuming because it was so early and abrupt?

    Definitely a terrible loss.

lennon's death is the reason i refuse to read catcher in the rye

I've read Catcher in the Rye before. I have no clue how somebody could go psychotic and decide to kill "phonies" based on what I read in there. The guy who did it obviously must've had pre-existing mental issues.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Beatles, and after seeing the movie Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson around ten years ago, I have taken it upon myelf to buy every copy of Catcher in the Rye that I come across in thrift stores and garage sales . The book itself isn't a bad read (probably my least favorite work of Salinger though) but has the potential to be dangerous, especially to impressionable youths, thanks to a certain douche bag named Mark David Chapman.

The shittiest part is it prevented what was in the works for John. In '81 he was going to go on his first solo tour and in '82 there were tentative plans for the Beatles to reunite for a tv special called The Long and Winding Road. The Long and Winding Road project morphed into the documentaries the Complete Beatles and the Beatles Anthology.
