I liked it best when it was done by William Hanna and Joseph Barbara. Not only did it actually create the cat and mouse, but they also made some of my personal favorite Tom and Jerry cartoons. The first one, Puss Gets the Boot is one of my personal favorites out of all Tom and Jerry cartoons.

My vote really goes to the Chuck Jones era of Tom & Jerry cartoons. Heck, it's a step up from the classic Hanna-Barbera Tom & Jerry toons, with the added hint of Looney Tunes gags and action hidden throughout the Chuck Jones Tom & Jerry toons.

Hannah Barbera. Sure they had a couple of shitty ones like those cinemascope remakes, and then they had that extremely racist His Mouse Friday, but they're still really good.
Gene Dietch should've been arrested for making those 1961-1962 shorts.
Chuck Jones didn't really improve anything, in fact he made 'em worse than the HB, but not as bad as GD. I think he was in envy from the 7 oscars Tom and Jerry won in the 1940-1958 era.

The Hanna Barbera version of course they were the originals, I do like Chuck Jones' take on them though and his Tom seemed to have equal wins and loses.

Wow I'm still surprised people like the Chuck Jones era.
Really IMO CN needs to stop playing those or somebody should back to the 1967 vault fire and burn the Chuck Jones and Gene Dietch Tom and Jerry cartoons.
Why do they even play those 1960s tom and jerry cartoons on Cartoon Network anyway?!!

I agree those things have always given me bad vibes. Not as bad as the Filmation ones in the early 80s
The best were the older Hanna-Barbera ones from the 1940s.
