Here's an 80's tune that went to #1 in the UK but I don't think it made much of an impact in the USA, but I could be wrong ya know.

This goes back quite a ways time-wise.

    The Specials - Ghost Town - 1981...

The Eldorado is dead. Long live the Eldorado.

I like the idea of a "Beatles free" 60's music thread.

There are so many great eighties songs I could list, though the greatest one is probably Just Good Friends by Michael Jackson.

"I'll stop the world" has been in my head recently. (Modern English)
Glad Hershey's has finally stopped raping it.

Metal was big, but the fad caused the market to become saturated with untalented bands. All they needed to do was rely on cheesy power chords and screaming vocals. My favorite of the era was Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson's vocals sounded genuinely sinister.

One band sums up the 80s for me...and one song quintessentially.

    But then of course there's...

    There it is. :D

It's so hard to choose with the eighties, because a lot of eighties songs are great. I'd say Don't stop believing by Journey is up there though.
90's shows and movies are awesome

Yeah, Rachel15, "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey is a great 80's song and crow picked the song from Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, "The Time of My Life".
Dirty Dancing must be an 80's soundtrack classic by now, lol.

Here's a favorite, the older I get the more I love this song.

    10,000 Maniacs - Trouble Me - 1989:

The Eldorado is dead. Long live the Eldorado.
