Speaking of staying alive, here's a guy that people didn't take seriously when he made waves in 1964 with that band called the Beatles.

Mom always said to keep your eye on the drummer in the back, lol.

A lot of songs share this title but here's my favorite for the "Best Of" thread,

I do not know if this song has been mentioned with the million other songs so far. But your feet can't help but move to Heatwaves "The grooveline"

Listening to "the grooveline" Rod Temperton is an effing genius with all the music he wrote.

Since christmas is getting closer, I thought I'd post a christmas song from the '70's that I love to hear every year: Wonderful Christmas time by Paul Mccartney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9BZDpni56Y

on the flip side of Paul mccartney's fantastic christmas song is John lennons "War is over". It shows John was always trying to write about a subject matter and show his concern about something or another while Paul semed more interested in just having fun.

Happy Holidays to one and all!:D

'Tis The Season and this is the right place and time to introduce the wonder song of the 70's.

To my ears there's definitely a church hymnal quality to this song and as you listen you can hear the influence of any number of tunes in the melody. So popular was this Spanish song in it's country of origin that it was chosen as Spain's entry in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest, where it reached second place!

Although a classic, I have to admit that it wasn't until 1983 that I first heard this song. Yet make no mistake, there's no understating what a huge internationl hit this song became. The circumstances that brought this song to my attention are so incredible that I promise to make a post about the whole event in the new year.

There's a remastered video on youtube but I prefer the unrestored version. It all has an air of excitement that reworking seems to remove somehow, maybe its just my imagination that the old video is waay cooler. Yep, I just love this old video. It reminds me just how long ago this all happened!
