So I've been thinking about a lot of things lately, mainly God, religion and life. I have a few questions about it. Some questions can sound a bit unreasonable, but hey, it sounds possible to me =). (I'm Catholic.)

*Do you think when we wish or ask for something, does God listens to us?

*Why do you think God created us?

*I know when the time comes we are no longer on earth, but do you think we get to be reincarnated to a different being like an animal or born again as human? Same or different genders?

*Why do we need to die? I mean, what's the point of living if we're going to die anyways? It's like having a short tour on earth or something.

*I'm starting to notice more good people die sooner than the ones who deserve to die. Is it because God needs them in his kingdom or...well, you tell me.

*If there were to be no religion at all, would people be more friendlier to each other? OR if religion wasn't such a big deal, would people not care what other people's beliefs are and just get along?

the older/more educated you become.....religion becomes more of a mystery/crock of shit.

    hope that helps.

keeping the "ants in line" is really what religion is about....
*Do you think when we wish or ask for something, does God listens to us?
From the perspective of Christian theology, God only listens and responds with an answer/solution/X we were hoping for when it fits with his divine plan.

From my Daoistic perspective, there is no God, but there is the Way of the Universe.
*Why do you think God created us?
Christian theology: God created us because he likes to create.

My point of view: Creation has no specific meaning to me, it is irrelevant. We live in the now. I believe evolution is more reasonable than creationism, but nothing is certain.
*I know when the time comes we are no longer on earth, but do you think we get to be reincarnated to a different being like an animal or born again as human? Same or different genders?
I don't believe in reincaration. But I believe that energy is recycled, if you will. The afterlife has no real meaning to me, but death is just as natural as birth.

I also believe that the only way to die is for your memory to be lost. If you're a drifter with no friends, no family, no records, you will die. After awhile, everyone who remembers you will die, and you will be completely lost in history.

If you live a life worth living, people will remember you and you can live forever.
*Why do we need to die? I mean, what's the point of living if we're going to die anyways? It's like having a short tour on earth or something.
Imagine if everything ever born was still alive today. There would be no resources. Dying is the least selfish thing to do for the world. We are all entitled to our turn, and lasts as long as it does. Suicide is a 'your loss' kind of thing.
*I'm starting to notice more good people die sooner than the ones who deserve to die. Is it because God needs them in his kingdom or...well, you tell me.
Christian theology: When the Lord calls, you answer the call.

Me: Suffering sadly happening. It is natural. It sucks when good people die, but after they die you can't prevent it.
*If there were to be no religion at all, would people be more friendlier to each other? OR if religion wasn't such a big deal, would people not care what other people's beliefs are and just get along?
Religion was necessary to establish civilization. One day it will disappear.

If religion didn't exist, people would find other things to kill each other over, I'm sure.

I, too am, by family, Catholic, but I'm not sure if I buy into everything.

I've never been blindly accepting anything, always almost looking in from a 3rd person point of view, but the questions that've been on my mind recently are

How did something come from nothing?

What brought the matter that caused the big bang?

If there is no supreme being, how did we come to be?

I guess you could say my faith is not very strong.

To quote the Matrix, "Without purpose, we would not exist"

Good for you Retrox, asking questions and questioning authority are signs of intelligence

One of these days, I should make a flow chart on religion

I don't believe so. Nobody knows for sure about the existence of God (which is why people call it "faith";) but wouldn't it seem frivolous for the creator of every atom in the universe to answer people's calls for their sports teams to win or for it to be a sunny day for their picnic? If there is a God, i think the general population's opinion of it is out to lunch.

People seem to get upset whenever i say this, but what makes you think there has to be a "Why"? Would your life seem like a waste of time to think that there may not be a grand purpose for us all? The purpose of life is to procreate. It's the same for every organism. My opinion is that the purpose of life is to live it as you see fit and die satisfied with what you have done.

I don't believe in reincarnation or an afterlife as most people see it. The idea that we came from the Earth and shall return to the Earth is true to me. The molecules that made you up as an infant, as an adult and after you die are eternal. Matter is not created, it simply changes forms.

Like i said before, i believe there is no big purpose behind life, we simply exist. We die because our bodies lose cohesion as we age.

It seems like a matter of perception to me. I see way fewer good people than i do shitty people, as a result, the good people would have to live a pretty long time in order for them to seem to stick around longer than others.

Some people will always need religion. Whenever they feel out of control of their lives or confused by events they need to find solace in the idea that there is a grand scheme for them. Religion is a pacifier for those who need comfort and aren't able to find it otherwise. There are also a lot of good stories and lessons to be learned in the Bible, Torah and Koran.

I agree with Echidna, asking these questions of yourself is good for you. It will not only help you attain perspective, but it will also challenge your personal beliefs so that they are more solidified in a specific direction.

You can always read up on things and do research

And (if it's your thing) you can pray for answers
James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God"

Whatever you do, just be sure to come to your own conclusions.

These are very reasonable and ever wandering questions. I can say that like Echnida said, prayer would surprise you in many ways. I would try that for your answers. I can tell you from my knowledge that God is so very big that there are some things that we just can't fathom in our human minds to capture the reality of it. For instance the concept of having free will yet being set on a beautiful plan He has for us, seems impossible but it is, somehow possible.

    Love you guys
You dont know them but they do!!
