So should kids be allowed to take classes online instead of having to sit in a classroom all day?

If they can show they are learning why not?

I'm all for it my man. As long as the kids can interact with real teachers by phone or email I don't see a problem with it. Adventure of link makes some good points, but The normal method of school doesn't work for all kids. I think going to class online might work better for some. Hell my school was so bad back in the day that I spent more time fighting and trying to not get the life beat out of me rather than learn any thing. This online schooling would have worked great for me and some others who the traditional method doesnt' work for. Hell how many kids go to school and don't really learn any thing and are just there hanging out with their friends? I'm takig online classes and the flexibility works great for me.

Looks like you could've used a few more courses in spelling.

I typed that in the morning when I was sleepy dude so get of my nut sack and stop trolling. Why don't you stay on topic and stop trying to start crap with me because you enjoy internet arguments or something.

On topic I used to play basketball with a couple of kids who didn't want to go to school because of the violence there. One guy got hit by a car intentionally and had scars on his face and hands from being stabed at school. This might work for kids in those real violent school districts were we have to worry about them getting shot all the time.

Taking online classes doesn't sound much different than home schooling, and that's perfectly acceptable by most people...so I don't see how this would be much worse than the standard school environment. Like it or not, we ARE in an age where younger kids are going to be inclined to technology a lot more than we were, so if you can take advantage of it, go for it.

And that would be the downside of kids learning on the internet. That and porno.

Even though it does seem like a good idea, seems like it'd be easier for the student to get distracted if doing everything online. I took some online classes, and most of the time, instead of doing what I was supposed to, I was usually hear goofing off on the boards or talking on instant messengers since I got distracted so easily.

If one is really disciplined, then go for it, if not, I think a traditional set up where the child goes to school would work out better.

That aside, I feel that socially, physically going to school is good too. There are advantages of both homeschooling and regular schooling, but still seems you can't get those same social skills if isolated from everyone and only reduced to just online interaction.

Hm, I guess thinking about it, I'm on the fence with this one after all. Typical of me. lol

At my old high school, we used a website called mymaths.com.
I can't think of anything worth putting as a signature.

Kids will get to porno at home when they get off school. As far as spelling goes kids in school have horrible spelling as well so I don't see the difference.

I agree to some extent. But I think the serious downside of all this is the lack of interaction with other kids wich is provided in a standar school environment.

Technology is a good thing and I fully encouraged it but a good fist fight and some black eyes are part of the learning process of life wich sometimes is more important than a curriculum.

A society full of mamas-boys is a thing to avoid.

The interaction thing I can kind of agree with. However it depends on what kind of people they are interacting with. If it's a real bad school then I'm not sure the interaction is all that great. Not to mention that kids will still interact with people in the neighborhood any way. They don't have to go to a school building to do that.

I don't agree with this at all. Violence has nothing to do with an education and has the opposite effect from what I've seen. It disrupts kids learning. Also why do you assume it's going to be just a black eye? I've seen it go way beyond that a number of times.

Getting beat up will not change that. I've seen wimpy guys get their asses kicked and stay wimpy. It just depends on your personality to be honest.
