If she didn't fight the cop it wouldn't have happened.

resist and you get the smackdown. end of discussion. fight with the police, and you get the smackdown. Period and ENDED.

Suprised the cop didn't be a coward and get a bunch of his buddies on the scene and it didn't turn into a bigger riot than what it did, though.

As day day said on next friday, y'all can't fuck with the po-lice.. y'all can't fuck with the po-lice.. y'all can't fuck with the po-lice.. however just wait, this'll turn into a big deal, like it always does, and it'll turn racist..

heh, and it was over something as simple as JAYWALKING. guess some people like to get themselves in more trouble I guess..

She touched the officer. He protected himself. And he was in the right. The girl looked like she was going to go after him. You don't strike an officer of law and not get away with it. The worst part is, she wasn't the one getting the ticket. She was the mouthy friend.

it's all her fault, if only she stayed out of it, the cop did nothing wrong.

For all the cop knew, that girl could have been trying to reach for his gun. He had every right to sock her in the face, and she should have known better than to try to make a grab at a police officer. Apparently the cop is being suspended for this, but what else was he supposed to do in this situation?

Well she shouldn't have touched him if she did. However who the fuck stops somebody for jay walking? I mean with all the gang bangers, drug dealers, rapist, murderers, child trafficking and other bad shit going on dude stops somebody for jay walking. From what I hear this entire episode was about somebody jay walking. Also I hear the officer grabbed one of the girls friends and this female intervened. Yeah I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you guys here. If it's true that it happened over jay walking then it's some stupid shit that this officer should have just let go. Many police officers pull over teenagers because it's an easy thing to do. They feel they can handle them and they will not hurt them. As far as punching the girl I don't see why that was needed. If you can't physically handle a 17 year old girl then maybe you don't need to be on the police force. This was an officer not using good judgment in my opinion.

The officer used perfect judgment. What was keeping the girl from grabbing the officer's gun? You do not touch an officer of the law. Ever. Watch the full video. You'll see both women were out of control.

This girls days were numbered. If it wasn't this cop it would have been another one sooner or later. It comes down to her not having respect for authority and the fact that she cannot handle being told what to do. In simple terms she lacks discipline that she should have learned long ago.

They make a big deal out of jay walking in some places. I know when I go downtown that I can be ticketed for jay walking and so do most other people. The law is there to maintain order and for the protection of everyone. The fine is small just like a parking ticket. It is one of those things you just pay and move on. What should the officer have done? "Ok I won't make you give me your information since you are fighting me on it" "I'll just let you undermind my authority and let you get away with jay walking and teach you that you can get your way by be insubordinate." It was her choice to make an issue out of it, not the cops.

OH BTW not a lot of "gang bangers, drug dealers, rapist, murderers, child trafficking and other bad shit going on" in Seattle. It is acually a pretty safe place to live compaired to most parts of the country.

Wow nostradamus. You can see this girl's future and don't even know her. The cop was wasting time on dumb shit. He started a stupid conflict. I have no respect for stupidity in authority myself. You don't get to throw your ugly weight around because you have a badge and a uniform. I would have walked off from this dude myself if he was stopping me for the horrible crime of jay walking. Dude was just on a power trip with a young kid. You notice he didn't go after and bug full grown brothers. Sounds like dude was racial profiling to me and looking for something.

What city do you live in? I live in Chicago and have never been bothered about something as stupid as that. No way in hell would I pay a fine for jay walking. I'd take jail time before I'd pay a cent for some bs like that. Just because something is a law doesn't mean it's a good one my friend. Plenty of laws have been taken off the books over the decades because somebody finally understood that they were dumb as hell. It was once illegal for black men to marry white woman or learn to read. Would you have been okay with a police officer to arrest somebody for that? This is a waste of time and really needs to be gotten rid of. Officer never should have stopped them for this garbage to begin with. Sorry bro. Authority can be abused and isn't absolute. These guys are not gods that people must bow down to and go along with whatever they say. My feeling is that this guy was profiling and jay walking was his cover for doing so. I can tell you now if that was my daughter and dude had slugged her in the face I'd be dead because I would have fucked dude up or shot his ass. I wonder how you would feel if a officer had dragon punched your daughter in the face? I've walked away from police officers many times and they didn't punch me or grab me.

I guess that's the reason why they need to make their arrest quota by getting people for the horrible crime of jay walking. Profiling bro. Stop drinking the cool aid dude.

First off fist, way to TOTALLY miss the point here.

Next, OK, when you end up causing a traffic accident and/or you get run over due to jaywalking, we'll consider it a "waste of time" and "dumb as hell". Although to be fair jaywalking is dumb in the first place, still.

Also, note that the girl RESISTED in the first place, then her thick black friend got punched in da face, yo. Honestly, if it's something so minor as jaywalking, you should just either take the warning and/or pay the fine and move on. Is it REALLY that hard?

Also, laws and police are there to protect and serve for a reason. There ARE hazards associated with jaywalking, you know (as seen above). Sure you have the bad, crooked, and/or corrupt cops, but honestly even if he is any of the above, he did nothing wrong. Mess with the law and you get messed with back, PERIOD.

Jaywalking, dumb? Uh, do you even know what the hell it is? That kind of shit needs to be discouraged which is why they place the fine. How would you like it if you were driving down the road and alluvasudden some dumbass decided to start walkin' in the middle of the road, possibly forcing you to slam you brakes or accidentally hit them? There is no place for pedestrians on a busy road, only on cross-walks. If you're stupid enough to take a chance at walking across an intersection then that's your problem. I don't plan on becoming a decoration on somebody's grill.

And why is it that everybody has to turn this into a fucking racial issue!? Just because the cop's white? You're going to see this as a perfect opportunity to pull the race card? Well fuck that shit. Everybody has to deal with minor traffic violations, and everybody is subject to the same rules. If that women hadn't acted like she did and simply just politely admitted her mistake or if she wanted to, dispute the ticket legally in court and NOT try to pick a fight with a cop things wouldn't have turned out as such.

I think Link and Saruman_w said it well. Based on what you are saying I can tell that you yourself lack discipline growing up fistoflegend. I can tell you were allowed by your parents and school to get away with too much. Now you expect to have everything your way and can't handle being told what to do just like these girls. There are lots of laws I don't like and I don't follow, but if I get caught it is one me.

So cops shouldn't be allowed to enforce a particular law if the infraction of said law prevented the perpetrator from a 30-second inconvenience?

I've never caused a traffick in my life and I usually don't jay walk so it's a non -issue with me. Dude how many accidents have been caused by jay walking? Show me all the figures since this is such a horrible crime that needs to be stopped. You would have a better argument for drunk driving or something, but this is pretty weak in my opinion. Dude could have just drove by and gave them a warning and let it go.

In retrospect maybe she should have just heard what dude had to say rather than talk shit. I wonder how many white kids this dude stops for jay walking? Yeah I just played the imaginary race card that Saruman_w is talking about. I wonder why there is so much resistance to thinking that race plays a role in peoples behavior like we live in a color blind society.

I agree that laws are in place to protect people, but not all laws are good and some need to be altered or changed to work better. I still say jay walking shouldn't be a reason to do a stop unless it caused a accident. Don't think police officers don't stop people for race and use others things as an excuse to do so. I'm not saying this officer did that, but don't think it's not a possibility. Also the police have to follow rules and regulations on how they deal with people. Thus mess with the law and you get messed back with worries me that you feel any thing these guys do is justified. Dude could have easily restrained that girl and arrested her. Punching her in the face was not needed. Funny thing is it was a weak ass punch that didn't seem to have much effect. Oh and this officers action are being investigated. Not saying any thing will happen, but somebody must think there is a possibility of wrong doing for it to need to be investigated.

first off, it's common sense to not walk right out in front of a 2,000 #+ machine from out of fucking nowhere. You're gonna get pwned, and prolly pretty badly. And it's not the dude's fault handling the warning, it was the PERSON BEING WARNED having a problem with it. Again, is it SERIOUSLY that hard to either take the warning and/or pay the fine and move on?

oh yeah, never caused a traffick? huh? :?

the law is the law, everyone has to abide by it (though I agree, people somehow always get around it). and if you don't think race has anything to do with it, think again. This cop will probably get slammed HARD on, whereas if the races were reversed, it would be like "oh meh  moving on..."

OK, by this logic, you would be fine with someone speeding and/or flying down the road like a jackass, doing a "california stop", someone being drunk and miracously didn't hit anything, people cutting you off, people running stop signs, etc? Would you also be fine with crossing against the light? Would you be fine with people running around in the nude? And dare I ask, some illegal immigrant walking down the street? OK then. that's what I thought. :?

uh, dude, when you get other people trying to fight the police on behalf of their buddy you're gonna arrest, they gotta take charge of the situation. And when there's force, they gotta use force back. Period. and I'm glad I worry you. :)

Oh yeah, the arresting officer will also get a mandated vacation while the investigation is done. just the thing he needs from fuckin law disrespectors and haters like you.

    fuckin dumbass.

Actually I never got away with any thing. I went to school and basically didn't bother any body who didn't bother me. I pretty much followed all the rules when I was at school. I also have never been arrested or been in jail in my life. Link and saruman are just drinking haterade dog. I thought you was down with the brothers my man. In retrospect maybe the girl should have just listened to what the officer had to say. I do wonder if there is more to the story than we have heard though. I do wonder how would you feel if this girl was say your daughter? Would you feel the same about him dragon punching her?

The hell are you talking about? How hard is it to understand that this chick should not have acted the way she did? She responded to her ticket with violence, and the officer responded in kind. What's not clear about that?

If it were my daughter I'd tell her that's what she gets for attacking a cop.

Getting a bit to emotional in this thread for me. Didn't realize that people couldn't take a joke. Okay iF you want me to spell it out for you. There is a thing called excessive force that police are under. If the oficer is found to have used more force than is needed he can get introuble for that. That's what I'm basically talking about. Forgive me if I didn't make myself clear. I don't know what the exact criteria for that is in the city were this happened. Also can you and adventure of link tone it down a bit dude? you seem to be getting a bit rude were is is not really needed.
