Need I remind anyone of the stupidity that came from Will Smith's mouth? The stuff about making Captain America black? Just because he read Truth: Red, White, and Black, doesn't mean it should be made into a movie.

Granted, its a good read. But the general audience wouldn't embrace it.
This is why the Will Smith's and Tyler Perry's of the world frustrate me

There's too much emphasis on him being black. It's like we have to have "our own" version of said superhero or whatever to identify with. When their race changes, so does most his personality. And that's what I hate when they flip races in most movies/shows/whatever. It's only meant to "blackify" or "whiteify" or "whatevergroupify" a character, dipping into old tropes, cliches, and stereotypes. And sometimes they even delve into finding some BS "reason" to justify why said character isn't this certain color and make it a big deal, usually leading to the rest of the total package lacking substance.
It's okay to make a badass who happens to be black.
It's okay to make a lone ranger who just happens to be Hispanic.
It's okay to make a power ring bearer that shoots out green magic stuff who just happens to be Asian.
Just make a cool likable character and everything will fall into place regardless of looks.
