I await your "1st Amendment Rights" or "People need to stop being so sensitive" or "She did it to teach them" excuses for this one.

They asked black kids if they could reanact lynchings on them? Maybe the lady was just tired of her teaching job.

ITS FREE SPEECH, YER VIOLATING IT!!!!111 :cry::cry::evil::evil::evil:

but in all seriousness, this seems like a history lesson gone awry. I understand that we don't need to sugarcoat history, but to actually go through a lynching? :?

The teacher should have talked to the principal first. To be honest I think her basic idea to teach this ugly period in history isn't a bad idea. It could have been done as a play or something. Make the main character black detailing this ugly period. They messed up by asking random black dudes if they could reenact this shit though.

There's a big difference between students wearing an American Flag (the symbol of our Nation), and students wearing KKK uniforms (a symbol of racism).

Don't you get it? These lynchings were not as common as the history books make them out to be. Also the lynchings were usually carried out by vigilantes that felt an individual was guilty of a crime such as murder or rape. Many of those people probably deserved it while others were falsely accused. Lynchings were not just done to blacks, they were done to anyone they felt committed a crime. Many times the police were part of the group. The KKK hoods were worn to conceal their identities. The history books leave this piece of information out and make it out that all lynchings were done just because the person was black.

Unless they were doing a lession on vigilantes the lynchings is not a major part of racism in America.

No you failed Dmoney. Racism goes much deeper than this, but your college textbooks focus more on this. Let me ask you a question. What percentage of blacks do you think were lynched? Out of say a 1000 blacks in a town in a 5 year period how many were brought out in the woods and hung?

You think I believe only ">black people" racism is the only type of racism I care about or count as racism.

There you go, man. Just print out as many you want. Just because you're black and angry, doesn't mean you're Malcolm X.

Probably so, but keep in mind that crimes were often times committed by blacks in part due to poverty and lack of education. Remember most blacks came out of slavery will no formal education and work was hard to come by.

I know many blacks were accused of crimes they didn't commit and like today people tended to assume it was committed by a black person. It was just a fucked up situation and still is, but I still say that lynching was not as common as many are lead to believe.

Edit: You know the south could have shipped all the freed slaves back to Africa or could have done a mass extermination like Hitler did, but they didn't did they.

"In reaction to social changes, the Klan adopted anti-Jewish, anti-Catholic, anti-Communist and anti-immigrant slants."

So there you go. They hate anyone who isn't Christian and white.

Many of them wanted them to go back anyway, and some did, which really didn't make things better.
