Arguably the best film adaptation of the 1954 novel I Am Legend. True story: Back in February, I went to a Zombie Film Festival, this was the first film they showed for that (Although I wouldn't call Omega Man a zombie flick, as much as I would call it a post apocalyptic mutant film)

Even better than the Will Smith version?
Always playing as Yoshi since 1995!

Don't think I've ever seen this film. I liked the Will Smith version, but it used way to much CGI for me. I might check this out.

Oh my God, I LOVE "The Omega Man"!! It is the perfect "fight for your life in an apocalyptic wasteland" movie complete with the sassy heroine, barrel-chested hero, and hostile, pasty hordes, all set to a funky 70's groove. 8) I don't even know how many times I've watched it--it's on constant repeat in my house. It doesn't even bother me that it's the farthest thing removed from Matheson's original novel. Matheson himself wasn't bothered by it, so why should I? As for Will Smith kicking zombie butt--eh. He's nice and likeable but no Chuck Heston

I've said many times that the world is a little sadder without Chuck Heston. I swear, I watched a marathon of his movies once. Omega Man is one of my favorite films by him.

I have seen all three adaptations of "I Am Legend"

    The Last Man on Earth
    The Omega Man
    I Am Legend

I love the Omega Man but unfortunately I am Legend is the closest to the Matheson novel.
    What... me worry?

Have you seen I am Omega? That's fourth film adaptation. It aired on tv around the same time I am Legend the movie came out.

I am legend was a good film.but I couldn't deal with all the CGI. They went crazy with it in my opinion.

I don't bother with the crappy TV movies they spit out around big budget summer releases because 99% of them are horrible. And I have never heard anything good about this particular movie.

Quoted from wikipedia about I am Omega : "This film was rushed into production by The Asylum and released a month prior to the bigger budget feature I Am Legend"

I really enjoyed all three adaptations but do you know they are biological vampire movies?
