I always saw Cops as a show where police officers across the United States were just doing their jobs and nothing more. Maybe I'm missing something.

I always saw cops as a show about people breaking the law, which itself broke the law (copyright infringement, by stealing the name of the pre-existing cartoon of the same original name).

Oh you missed it alright lol. It might be a delayed reaction, one day you'll be walking down a buisy street or waiting for the train and just bust out laughing; they'll think your crazy, but we'll know the truth.

I thought the live action COPS came out before the cartoon. Was there another COPS cartoon?

I think I understand now. You're talking about the animated series and not the reality show, right?

The cops cartoon came out a year before the live action show. I remember when I first heard of the live action one, I saw a commercial & thought "what?? they're going to show a cartoon during prime time??", then I saw it & was like "wtf?! friggin liars! Tht'as not cops!!"

As far as this whole joke thing that's going on, it's probably a reference to black people getting arrested frequently.

That's so wierd because I could have sworn that the live action was on first, but I believe it. I guess I got confused because the COPS cartoon came and left so fast.

Thanks for clearing up the joke confusion, I couldn't stomach having to explain a joke lol.

I am not black per se, I am of mixed ethnicity.

There were a bunch of shows I initially watched as a kid were, some of them were:

    Benson
    Diff'rent Strokes
    Webster
    227
    The Jeffersons
    Michael
