dammit, when i help people, I dont want anything in return. I just want to the smile on a person's face knowing that everything is going to be aaaall right so we can both have a good day knowing there's some good in the world.

So im just waiting at the subway and this old hawaiian lady asks for help on going to little tokyo. Seeing as we were taking the same train, I showed her around and asked her to follow me to the station she needs to get to. At the next station, this is where we part ways and I told her a few other helpful things and some small talk. As my train was coming in, I told her that her's was coming on the other side and after a short exchange of appreciation and farewells she put one hand toward mine and gave me a green piece of legal tender. I was surprised that I couldn't speak but she knew what I was going to say and gave me that "french wave". I had no choice but to accept it and went on my way. I then took it out of my pocket, unfolded it and:

    I nearly cried.

I don't like when people pay me for a good deed either.

I have offered to try and help my neighbor several times, but she always tells me she can't pay me since she doesn't have a lot of money. I say I don't want anything, but she still feels like she has to pay me. I also have had people feel I was hurting their pride by helping them. I think what people fail to realize is that we all should help each other. If someone helps you, you pay it forward by helping someone else or help them at a later time.

I went 'round my friend's house and his dad asked him to do a chore (scrape weeds of the outside of their house, to be exact) and I helped my friend out with it after finding out what he was doing and ended up doing most of his job for him, then his dad offered me a fiver and I tried to explain that I didn't deserve but he insisted, nice guy too.
