My thoughts on the New Ipad

Well the next device in Apple's tech list is the Ipad.

After watching the video of it:

    http://www.apple.com/ipad/

I decided to make a post about the drawbacks.

    1. First no replaceable battery.

    2. Retail Price: $499

    3. No Verizon Wireless.

    4. People don't have the money to buy it.

    5. Frankly if I decide to read a book on this thing, should I go use my books for fire fuel?

    What are your thoughts?

To me it just looks like a large iphone; flashy, kitschy and not really worth it unless impressing people at starbuck's is a high priority.

I like it. It's like a laptop, except its just the top. and something all those old people or big finger guys can really appreciate.

Let me add that it has no Flash support. No Photoshop support. No camera. No app multi-tasking. You need a WiFi connection to print. And the $499 price tag is for the cheapest model. The thing is a major disappointment. But it will sell because it's Apple.

It'll sell because it looks cool and you'll be the envy of all the others who think it looks cool and don't even care if it's useable.

Buying an Apple product is basically like buying a Harley-Davidson.

Oh man, ain't that the truth. Harley's are the worst performers, need the most maintenance and cost more. Yet they still sell. My pops bought a Road King back in 04, rode it for a few years and sold it for like 2 grand under MSRP.

My personal favorite is when someone gets a Harley tattoo. Yeah, lemme run right out and get a nice McDonald's one right on my arm, with Ronald himself eating a greasy burger and fucking Wendy up the ass, all while flipping the bird. As long as the golden arches logo is huge and unmistakable.

While it looks neat, I agree it seems just like a giant ipod touch. I love my ipod touch and like to watch youtube videos on it at night while i'm trying to sleep, but the internet browser is pretty lame and the touch pad keyboard is good for writing quick sentances but I can't imagine trying to use it as an actual laptop type device. The keyboard would annoy the crap out of me (it would take me forever to write a three paragraph email) and if it doesn't support flash player or anything like that than I would miss out on going to some of my favorites. It seems like just another toy to get just to have it.
    :)

Such threads like these belong in the tech talk forum... I'll take it there.

On that note, with the $500 you can spend on an iPad, you can get a decently featured tablet PC (do they even make those anymore :?).

The Ipad shouldnt be for bringing around. Just put it on your wall, and itll be like a magic mirror or like one of those cool digital scroll menu's at restaurants.

Yknow...you just wake up, and right across your bed theres a thing that will tell you who's the fairest one of all and you can see if she's really fair. And after you find the fairest one and wipe the lotion off your hands you can go to here and pretend youre punching the guy in the war room like he's standing in fron of you. And check if the weather's good.

lemme put it this way, if i won it for free, id probably enjoy it somewhat, but i would never spend $500, when i can get a decent laptop for that much.
