"If more people would read the bible the world would be a better place because everyone would be in agreenment." That's exactly the problem with that. Everyone would be against gay people for example. The ideals the church has are amazingly non-jesusian. In the pages it says he forgave people and accepted them as themselves. Church couldn't be more far from this idea. If everyone in the world thought like the church people, we'd do all kinds of crazy stuff in the "name of the lord". I'm sooo happy things aren't that way and people actually think for themselves.

I see your point Antti. But in this situation, we are not talking about what the church does or says. As they can be flawed in what they want to be true. We are talking strictly the Bible. The Word of God itself. What God wrote for us to understand the world we are living in and understand His true Glory. The Bible doesn't say if someone claim to be gay, then we should be "against" them. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son and whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life" So in the end it really doesn't matter what we think about them being gay or not gay. It's just letting them know the Bible truth. That's what makes the Bible so clear cut, and not a religion. Religion has a list of rules to take part, that you must follow or else. There are commandments set out that God commands will be better for us on earth, but not mandatory or else we go to hell. Which pretty much the Americanized view of Christianity. But in truth, it's simply believing that Jesus is our salvation. John 3:16. That's it.

    Love you guys.

Not necessarily those who just claim to be gay, but those who have gay sex. It doesn't say "please go out and kill them", it says "they shall be put to death", which would put the onus on the religious congress.

Leviticus 20:13. As you probably know, being Christian, the book of Leviticus contained God's dictation to Moses.(the specific language of the verse varies slightly from one version of the bible to another.)

Old Testament stuff. The New Testament is what modern christians are supposed to follow though many follow both. No where does the New Testament say to kill homo's. In fact only one verse addresses it and some question the translation.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (English Standard Version)

Or do you not know that the unrighteous[a] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: (A) neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[b] 10-nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

I think the reason it isn't addressed is because the rules were already laid out in the old testament. Why rehash the rules if you already dictated them to the people previously?

Christians of more than one denomination are taught that the bible is the word of God, i think they focus more on the new testament because the faith is focused so much on Jesus and even the pious realize that many of the rules set out in the old testament are ridiculous.

It's not necessarily that the New Testament has better rules. It's that the New Testament is a fulfillment of the Old. People have changed, and sin had fully taken over the human race. It was previously known that you killed your sheep when you sinned. God then sent his Son to sacrifice himself for us, so we could be forgiven. Because God is so Loving. And just he belief in that, saves us from sin. Not from hell, from sin. Hell is the opposite of sin. And if someone would rather live in sin, then He gives them what they want. No rules involved.

I'll say this about the rules of Leviticus. God set the rules to promote holy living, He chose His people with sovereignty and expected them to live in a holy manner, since they were a reflection of Him

The penalties for not doing so were harsh, but just.

But! He sent Christ as the fulfillment to everyone of the past, present, and future. Which is something that is hard to fathom, but amazing.
