hat's right, a fellow Retro Junker published an honest-to-goodness, REAL-LIFE book! All right, so some of you have caught mentions of my first book, "How I Survived Three Years at a Two Year Community College" at the tail-end of my last couple of articles. Since I have received some intrigued messages from more than a few of you, I would like to take this time to, for lack of a better term, promote my book, and address why I believe dropping your hard earned cash on my literary debut is well worth it. Ultimately, the book is about the last three years of my life; it's a story about a lot of things, and something I firmly believe that everyone on this site can relate to. My memoir is about growing up, and finding love, and determining who you want to be in life; it's also about feeling disrespected, and having to fight through adversity, and making something out of yourself, despite the lowly conditions you may have started off in. It's a funny book, and at times, it is a very sad book; it gets deep and philosophical at times, and at others, it gets very whimsical. Indelibly, there are some dark (I mean DARK) moments that transpired in my life, and I make no efforts to mask them in the memoir. It's a very thought-provoking book, and the kind of thing that mainstream publishers wouldn't even consider touching; I suppose this book, for all intents and purposes, is just "too true" for the watered (and dumbed) down casual audiences of today. There are a lot of reasons to pick up the book: it's exciting, it's funny, it's engaging and it will certainly make you think about the world in a different way. It's also good for independent publishing, and a good way to promote this site in a way that most people would not consider. But all in all, I would advise you to at least give the book a glance, because it is a GOOD book. So many readers out there complain about getting the same old Twilight-style, churned out crap over and over again, and that is because they do not support independent, outside-authors that provide them with stuff that is actually decent. Of course, I do want the book to sell, and yeah, it would be nice to have the extra royalties, but what I desire most is having my work presented to the widest base possible. I know that you will not "agree"with everything in the book, but I am sure that you can at least relate, and in that, you will be doing a damned good service to not only the fledgling author, but maybe yourself as well. Dude, you spend more money on a Taco Bell lunch than that!
