Due to the confidentiality agreements I've had to sign I can't get into any specifics about the drugs I work on, but the gist of it is that I am in charge of making sure that clinical trials of pharmaceuticals run smoothly, efficiently, effictively, and successfully. If a study runs successfully, I get praised. If it doesn't, then I get lambasted. Whether or not the drug works doesn't denote if a study is successful or not. If a drug is useless, a successfully run study will see that and the company will be made aware of it. It's a pretty stressful job, but I'm really happy to have it at such a young age.
You work for Pfizer?! How evil! And I'm only half joking...
Anyway, I lost my job because my boss is in financial trouble and can't pay me, so I'll keep everyone posted on how the job search is going. Once my class is over this week I'll have more time to look.
The job is a good one though. I get to see new drugs and be the first to see whether they are successful or not. I would like to get into more detail, but for security reasons I am unable to. What I can say is that patient safety is far and away the most important part of the clinical trials. There are a lot of tough aspects of my job created by the focus on patient safety. While I find it to be a pain in the ass, knowing the importance of what I'm doing makes it worth it.
In addition, the pay, the benefits, the people I work with and the environment I work in make everything worth while. |
