    When I noticed that the "Spongebash marathon" was still going on yesterday, I decided to catch up with an old friend while i take a break from good ol' cartoon network. Then i noticed that there were new episodes before the marathon ended and I watched a few of the new ones.

    I'll say this, the show is still funny at some points but they still use the same jokes and storylines over and over. I've seen too many Plankton vs. Krabs in the series, and when the next one showed I just stopped watching. It's just like the simpsons, only in 15 minute installments. And whatshisface was right, Spongebob's voice is a little squeakier than before.

    BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...the show is still all right, it's just not worth too much of your viewing time.

    what do u think huh? tell me. do you think what i think or do u think what you think huh? please tell me. tell me please. tell.

    The only "new" episode I've seen since I stopped regularly watching the show was that Karate Island one. I thought it was pretty bad, not only did the writing seem bland, but since when do they parody like an entire movie? Not what I expect from Spongebob.

    I also saw some of this weird medieval special, and I couldn't stand it. They just kept using these stereotypical old English phrases in their speech, it didn't seem like it was worth the effort of finding out what was going on. I'm sure it was better than that awful B.C. special, though.

    The episode that made me stop watching for good was when they aired "Best Day Ever". That episode caused me to stop watching Spongebob for good.

    I've never been a regular viewer of the show, but from what I have seen, I liked the earlier episodes. Like maybe the first year or two. Spongebob wasn't as weird, and he came across as a naive adult trying to live on his own. The later episodes, it's like he's a kid. That kind of bugs me.

    I disagree. They're not all bad. The newer episode where Squidward becomes "beautiful" is so fucking funny.

    I think seasons 1 through 3 were the best.

    You are about the biggest Simpson fan I've ever met, Knuclear. Seriously. :lol:

    I can tollerate Spongebob, but I've never be a big watcher. It's an alright Nickelodeon show, in my opinion. One of the longest running Nicktoons. I was also really surprised that the marathon even took over Nick @ Night. You never see that.

    it's not really, it's just the fact that he referenced the Simpsons in his post.

    You sure about that? You talk about it more than any other person on this site, including ME. And like the saying goes, "love it or hate it, it's still obsession". :wink:

    Anyway, back on subject, I catch the older episodes as often as I can, which isn't as much as I used to five years ago. The new episodes are pretty inane and annoying, with no point, and I mostly blame the fact that Derek Drymon is no longer with the show. Paul Tibbitt is no creative director.

    I only talk about it because EVERYBODY is familiar with it, and is the most popular example to use when explaining or comparing somehting.

    I love Spongebob but mainly the first three seasons and the movie. While I do like some newer episodes I think the show's just not really as good as it was from 1999-2004.

    Of course, seasons 1-3 were awesome. It was the best Nicktoon since Rocko's Modern Life or Ren & Stimpy. And the movie was great too, but like everyone else said. After the movie it went waaaaaay downhill. There were some good episodes in season 4 and 5, but by the time season 6 started SpongeBob just became a terrible show.

    SpongeBob is now a giant cry-baby;
    Patrick just seems bored;
    Mr. Krabs is now so evil, greedy and selfish that he isn't even funny;
    Sandy is rarely seen anymore;
    Plankton is seen too much now.

    Also the writing is just weak now. It relies too much on gross humor, Patrick's stupidity, and SpongeBob annoying Squidward. And the animation doesn't look as good as it once did. Either Nickelodeon should just cancel SpongeBob, or the original crew should come back and save the show.

    SpongeBob SquarePants joins the list of animated shows that were once great, but went terribly downhill.

    The reason I stopped watching spongebob was because of that one stupid episode named Where's Gary, which featured that gross-out snail lady who ate snails for fun which seemed pretty sick at that time but I was just a little kid. Anyways what season was that episode from? I'm sorry to be asking this but I really need to start remembering when.
